Re: Across the Americas in a FJC

Yikes! Oh boy. Glad you guys are ok. Looks like a very bad place to break down. Was the vehicle mobile after the incident?

Oh man!! glad to hear you and your wife are OK shreesh!! Hope this doesn't put a dampen in your trip!! Best of luck to you!

...on a side note: will insurance cover this??
Actually, this incident made me realize what matters the most to me. We will fix the FJ and continue, but it looks like we are stuck in WY for a while.

AAA covers this, with a $100 deductible. Dunno whether they cover after market parts like the GOBI rack or the PIAA lights. I'm driving around a Jeep Liberty in the meantime.

Yes, the car was drivable after the accident. The trooper was agog that it kept running with such "minor" damage. I had to be careful with the unstable windshield but I made it back to campus.

Sorry to hear about your accident and I'm so glad both you and your wife are OK. I have AAA and they'll cover all the aftermarket parts as long as you can provide receipts. I hope the rest of your adventure won't be so exciting.

Wow glad you guys are ok! It's all part of the adventure I guess.

Maybe we should look into getting AAA?

Re: Across the Americas in a FJC

Man, bummer about the damage but glad you guys are alright. Considering the type of adventure you are on surely a local Toyota dealership can pull some strings and get the repairs done quickly? Make sure they understand that getting you back up and running quickly will play a big part in getting you to your goal and make them an interesting chapter in the story.

Hope repairs are already underway and we see you guys rolling again soon!

Man, that's something I've always wanted to do but never had the time. Ahh, maybe someday.

(Sigh)

The car is still down due to the difficulty of getting all the parts through the various passes. It is a very white Christmas, here!

Since I have no choice I might as well enjoy the scenery...

At least you're broke down in a gorgeous spot. Merry christmas and safe travels once you're back up and running. I'll follow with similar footsteps someday, but for now, I am enjoying the journey vicariously.
