My Boss Snowboard Setup

I finally got a chance to test my snowboard setup on a little road trip to the Eastern Sierra.

It was just me and Pepe (aka Pepito aka Pepitito) for the first 3 1/2 hours through pissing rain and rolling scrub.

I met my friend Jim at kirkwood and proceeded to get rad in the 12-year-old's park off chair 7 because the snow was like polished marble after the rain and overnight freeze.

It was fun. I don't really ride in terrain parks that much so I made use of the time to learn as much as possible. After the last lift we took off toward Lee Vining.

We got four hours sleep before hitting the road again for the Convict Creek drainage. Here's Mt. Morrison at the crack of dawn.

Jim bailed with TEX to ride this sweet line:

While I teamed up with Marc to check out Mt. Morrison.

** Disclaimer - Do not climb mountains in the Winter unless you have a partner, avalanche equiptment, and avalanche training. Avalanches can kill you. **

We dug a snow pit at around 10,800 ft in the heart of the bowl to check for stability. Howz it look??

The riding wasn't that good because the rain had crusted up big sections of snow. But it's still exhilarating to put in 3000 ft. of fresh tracks.

Re: My Boss Snowboard Setup

The next morning we got, uhm, kind of a late start.

We had spotted a little stash the previous day and we had reason to believe it contained powder. But first we had to get there.

It was kind of a bushwhack.

There's the promised land!

But alas, our route lead us astray and we were blocked by a cliff band. So we dropped the steep little face from as high as we could get.

And the snow was pretty damn nice, all things considered.

It was a great trip and my snowboard racks worked perfectly. I'm running a Yakima system bolted to the roof with stornco adaptors.

Great write-up, it looks like you had a blast. There is nothing better then finding your own run and laying the first tracks. Sweet pictures too.

Re: My Boss Snowboard Setup

Rain on top of snow... that blows.

Reason #1 I love Utah! I can leave work at 1:30 and be on the chair by 2:00.

I need to get out this week! I was riding like 3-4 times a week, but I've been gettin lazy. I was up at Sierra at Tahoe about 2 weeks ago (when it snowed like 8' in 2 days) and I haven't been since. I'm going tomorrow! Thanks for the motivation!

Yeah - that was a good one huh? I got bottomless powder at kirkwood for that one but I heard S@T was the place to be.

Here's one more reason to visit the Eastern Sierra. Appearantly if you dig a hole in the Owens Valley it will fill up with hot springs and naked hippie chicks in about 2 hours. Woohoo!
