Had a good time out there this weekend. Our group got sent over to this huge field next to Peggy's dinner on the south side of the freeway. We picked up a lot of trash thats for sure. I even cleaned up a homeless guys camp site, I left all of his stuff he was using though.
The raffle was cool I won some stuff, wasn't even expecting to ether with only $20 worth of tickets. Came home with a Defender roof rack (model #40405) tire repair kit, 12v work light, and $350 gift certificate for Marlin Crawler.
The wheeling was awesome. Friday night went with a group of jeeps and a pathfinder up Doran, Mir also ended up showed up while I was trashing my rear bumper (glad you made it out Mir). I ended up taking a little damage on this run trying to line up to get over and around a rock/wall I backed up in to a rock and destroyed my silver trim piece on the passenger side, no other issues for me. The Nissan had a little trouble on the big water fall and had to be winched up it cause his clutch was going out. That made up all all the exiting parts but it was a great group of guy with some amazing terrain.
Saturday night Ollie with Frog as a passenger and my self went up Doran and down Odessa. This was a great one as well. Half of Doran was done in the light so that was a nice treat to actually see the hills and mines around us. We got up with no problems then started to head down Odessa, the first obstacle we come to was a portion of the trail that has a 40-50 foot drop on the right and a wall on the left and half way through this part the trail is washed out so the trail becomes about 7-8 foot wide. this is a butt pucker moment for sure hoping the back end doesn't slide down into the hole and take you and the FJ over with it to the bottom of the canyon. The next hair part is this off camber squeeze type thing This one if you screw up the FJ will fall in to the canyon wall destroying the passenger side no big deal right Frog spotted Ollie through and then my self with out issue. Then we worked are way around traffic and get to the last little obstacle and I get my self hung up on the cross member with no traction to be found in the front or back. The Front is in the air and the rear is just digging. We end up using the hi-lift too free my self by jacking up the rear and stacking some rocks under both rear tires, then jacking up the driver side and stacking even more rocks under the driver rear. It worked out great once we got all the rocks stacked enough took a couple tries to get the stacks high enough but it was a nice exercise of are equipment.

It's a great event put on by some great people and business'. Last years made a huge impact and there was quite a bit less trash this year thats a good thing but there was still trash. This event really show the people in power that the wheelers really do care about the trails and want to help out and keep them clean and open for ages to come.
Night wheeling is awesome! Your down in these canyons and when you look up all you see is a sky full of starts. I wish I had some rock lights it would have been a nice touch thats for sure.

It's nice to see Calico etting cleaned up once in a while. That place is a dump at the entrance. I've been up there a couple times to run Odessa and the falls when I was living out there and we always stopped to pick up someones treash they dumped there heading into into the BLM land to camp. The ammount of ammo shells that can be found there could probably produce a years worth of pennies in brass.
Nice to see familiar areas of the trails in your pics and glad you had some fun cleaning up!
