Arizona/Utah Expedition (March 2008)

Tim and I just got back last night. Our pictures will certainly not do any justice in relaying our experience ...but we'll certainly try.

Uphill was going to be our "sole FJ representative" along with his sweet rig but was unfortunatly unable to come. He was certainly missed.

Prior to this run, I was able to meet a bunch of the west-coasters in Death Valley and Mojave.....and look forward to meeting up with you again. We are going to put our pics together but until then, here are just a couple teasers.

Sedona:

Canyon De Chelly

and still to come....Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater/Volcano, White Rim (Canyon Lands) ....

Very cool! Did you get a guide through Canyon De Chelly and if so how was your experience?

We did. James, our guide, was great and it really made the experience much better. The only thing, ....you definitely wan't to get out of Chinle in the daylight. We stopped at the A&W on the way out and we kept getting approached by natives wanting money, this and that, ...it actually got a little tense for a while and we decided to get out of town.

We both have them, mine just doesn't have the hoops on the front. I agree their products are sweet.

Re: Arizona/Utah Expedition (March 2008)

Ya I used to live in St. Johns, Az which is pretty close to the res and I have some great native stories, so I know how it can be. When we moved here from Michigan though we were in line at a diner in Gallup to pay and two natives got into a knife fight...amongst others. It's too bad really, but thats discussion for another thread.

Thinking about camping there at Chinle the night before we venture into the canyon, I'm assuming this is James Yazzie...did you just hook up with him at the park office there?

Full trip report with photos is here:Arizona/Utah Expedition March 08 - Toyota 120 Platforms Forum, we sure wished you were with us, but I understand the circumstances. It was good to meet all the west-coasters and now that I'm back east, ....I'm all ready wishing I was out west!!
