5 Days in Death Valley

This is my first trip report on the forum, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. First off, when I planned this trip, I still owned my Nissan Titan truck and while the trip would've been fun, I felt pretty limited to the trails I could take it on. I was able to sell my truck a few weeks before my trip and then picked up a used FJ for a great deal. This was to be the trip to break the truck in.

This was our first expedition style trip, if you could call it that. We spent 5 days driving around Death Valley, logging in more than 500 miles, never camping in the same place twice, only stopping off in town to fill up with gas. Some of the off-road trails we traveled on were the Mengel Pass/Goler Wash, Chloride Cliffs, Titus Canyon, Lost Burro Mine Rd., Lippencott Mine Rd., and the Saline Valley Road.

I don't have too many action shots, wish I had more but I do have some video once I figure out how to edit it, I'll post some.

This was our first stop, the ghost town of Ballarat. We were going to enter Death Valley from the westside, heading in

Charles Manson's old 4x4...it's no FJ

Traveling on the Mengel Pass / Goler Wash Road

Side trip to the Barker Ranch, infamous hideout of Charles Manson

Traversing the West Side Road in the Badlands

Found a nice camping spot after some wheeling in the Chloride Cliffs area east of Death Valley

Heading down Titus Canyon, wife says it's her turn to drive ...

Just popped a cold Tecate after driving to the north end of the park to see the Eureka Dunes

Posing at the Tea Kettle Junction:

Taking a break off the Lippencott Mine Road:

All in all, to say that it was an amazing trip would be an understatement, we were sad that it had to end. But we're looking forward to many more adventures in the FJ!!

Re: 5 Days in Death Valley

Sean, what photo equipment are you using? Those pics are so sharp. Metering is spot on as well.
