Thumbs up Tolland State Forest 4/05 pics

Well Slither and Capt.Rick set sail from CT to meet Nissanaltimacrazyhorse(Mike), The Stig(Costa) , 6 Jeeps, and an old Land Rover(Bostonian style) in Otis/Tolland, Massachusettes

After Contemplating the first of many water crossings the Capt and I opted not to pass up a good opportunity.

It was a great day for everyone, no carnage, some good pinstripes, a lot of water and mud. Thanks to Mike and his friends for having us. I think we made the Jeeps look bad. Sorry guys!

I think Capt. Rick should change his name to aquaman for the way he is drawn to the water / mud holes!! Nice pix.

Re: Tolland State Forest 4/05 pics

Yeah, these weren't as bad as the mudpit in Rausch Creek but we did have one big crossing that we both agreed would have been a little too much to try unless it was summer and we had a snorkle on the rig. He went in one side and kept falling off a small ledge and I tried another entrance got 1/2 way up the doors with water and was still diving, so I backed out. A quad rider pulled up and said he'd never seen anyone make it across, that's usually when Rick's eyes light up.

Only Rick and I and 1 jeep with 37" Truxs made it through the deep whole in the pictures. I actually rolled through it no problem in 4Lo w/atrac on. We had a couple other crossings where the ice broke off into small iceburgs and made things a little difficult. We had a great day.

Yeah Mike any additional clearance makes for a more comfortable run. The trails were much better than I anticipated. Maybe in warmer weather we'll try that deeper crossing! I heard your undercarriage a couple of times today. Hope you didn't get any damage as a result. Nice meeting you guys.

Re: Tolland State Forest 4/05 pics

ya i heard and felt it today to thats why i want to lift it 3 inches to get it off the ground so i wont have those issues. Almost every spot i hit will be eliminated with a 3 inch lift even if i keep my tires i have now which kick ass. Ya the trail was alot better than i thought it was going to be. And there will be another run this summer probably a couple so you guys can choose.

On a side note i was washing my fj and a guy with an xterra wanted to join us next time.

Re: Tolland State Forest 4/05 pics

You guys are brave for trying those water crossings. How could you tell how deep it was? It would've made for a long day if you have to wade in there to get hitched out. I bet you had a rush crossing though.

Re: Tolland State Forest 4/05 pics

well i have been up there before so i had an idea of how deep it was, but it was deeper than usual. I'm actually contemplating of not changing my fluids if i dont hear any noises in the next week or so.
