Met targa88 (Colin) in Death Valley on the last Nevadaesh/uphill trip. As a Canadian, we watched him carefully for any signs of spying or other threats to national security. This last message of his worries me because he is obviously trying to collect information about trails - that might be used for a Canuck invasion force.
Hmmm. Well then, in that case, please feel free to find and use the Kokopelli trail when ever you like. Good luck.
OK, maybe it wasn't a near "endo" (actually, I suppose it could have been), but it was definitely a near roll. I never really figured out the "How" part myself, but there was a side trail that looked innocuous enough going up, so I took it. about the time I get to the top, someone in the lead says over the CB "some of you might want to bypass this one, it's a pretty steep down hill" Too late! So I get to the top, look down, Yup, it's pretty steep alright! So I gulp & headed down. Right then, I see the ruts look too big for my stocker and I'm certain I'll get stuck so I decide to straddle them. I think that was my mistake. Things happened pretty fast from this point, but I think my front tires slipped left into the ruts, the left rear one was still on the high part and the other was going WAY up in the air. At this time I think I (panicked and) punched the clutch & brake in, which forced the rear even higher. We started bouncing hard down the hill & things were flying around in the cabin. They were secure from sliding, but not from flying (lesson #1). At that point, I let up on the pedals, the rear slipped into the ruts, we straightened out & rolled (right side up) on down the hill. I was somehow VERY aware of the gasps & shouts coming up from the peanut gallery (j/k), and highly embarrassed! Of course, none of what I just wrote about HOW it happened may be correct, it happened SO fast, and I did not have a spotter (lesson 2), but it really didn't look like it needed one.
Lol. I'm sorry, I'm having a fun time reading the exciting report. I'm sure I would've been sweating like you have if I were in your seat. I'm just glad I'm reading and not doing it.

Sorry for the hijack, I was just wondering if anyone took the hill THIS time. My adventure actually occurred on the LAST run on this trail, after Mo had her recovery gear training session.
It looks like everyone had a great time there, I'm glad there were no repeats!

"Climate Change" is normal, natural, and inevitable. Regressing civilization back to the stone age will not alter it one iota.
I know there's a couple of steep bypass hills, which I normally would take except I would leave pieces of pinion behind, and both lockers are disconnected. But you get major manly points Cammo!
