Connecticut River Run

Over the weekend I went for a scenic drive along the Connecticut River only to find out that my favorite trail was completely submerged underwater due to the river flooding. However, that didn't stop me from having some fun.

Should have come with us to Tolland State Forest in Mass. We had a great time and lots of water there too.

I'm assuming you were using the unpaved roads?

Sorry, It was a last minute decision...I didn't plan on it being flooded. It started to get very deep at some parts so I had to back off, plus the girlfriend was freaking out! But I'd be happy to meet up at the meadows this weekend for round 2!

Re: Connecticut River Run

Sorry to resurrect this from so long ago, but where is this trail? I'm around exit 5 on I95, but am up in Old Saybrook occasionally. I'd love to meet up, or get directions to somewhere that's not paved. I'm originally from Canada, where there are trails *everywhere*, and am going through withdrawal down here.

Re: Connecticut River Run

Go to the boat launch in Rocky Hill (follow the signs for the CT River Ferry) and keep going north past the boat launch. There are a series of dirt roads that traverse the area. They are usually under water in the spring when the river is high, but they tend to be solid for the rest of the year. Great way to access shore fishing along the CT River too. The whole meadows area is a turf farm so stick to the roads. Also, in the fall there is a game club that uses the adjoining property so don't be surprised to see people wearing orange walking on the dirt roads carrying shotguns.
