Doing the straight pull thing was brave if the winch was on the smaller end (below 9,0000 lbs) considering the MONSTER tires on the stuck rig. I believe using a snatch block would be a good idea if you ever run into this situation again. I know, I know. Hind site is always 20/20. Good looking out for our fellow wheelers out there, though. 'Leave no rig behind'. Props to ya!

Aren't you suppose to put a jacket or blanket on the winch line for safety reasons?

We were using synthetic line so no need for a blanket or jacket on the line. If we wanted to double our pulling power we might have used a snatch block, but after conducting a stuck assement we found no need for this.
