Trail Report/Photo Section/GPS CoordinatesBeen offroad with your FJ? Tell us about it and post up any photos or GPS coordinates so others can possibly follow in your footsteps!
Very cool! I had to hold my breath just looking at some of those pictures. What an adventure!
Jerry - You must be some sort of Super Dad to convince your girls to spend their summer doing this. Do they get to drive sometimes? The puppy seems content to just be along for the ride.
Enjoy the rest of your trip!
Thanks, no Super-Dad, just rather "convincing".
We have had a great time, can't wait to get into Moab and see everyone in Ouray...
As Sol posted, 33" tires are minimum. Most FJCs had a 3" lift. The two other mods that get used tremendously are the rock sliders and skid plate.
The Toyota Trail Teams guys were excellent. They got us all through with no mechanical break downs. A lot of the people at Rubicon Springs (main camping area for Rubithon) were surprised how fast the FJCs made it through the Big Sluice, one of the most difficult sections of the trail. Kudos to Robbie, Brian (Woody), Colin, Connor, and Garrett.
Thanks to Sol for bringing Jason (Demello). It was great to meet both Sol and Jason, and to have them help spot us through Big Sluice.
Also, thanks to All Pro for donating the bumper for the raffle. I was lucky enough to win the bumper in the raffle.
SO it was you that got that bumper !!! I really wanted that !! oh well Enjoy!!!
Just when you think that the Rubithon could not get any better, I get this package from Jerry; A Rubithon photobook staring moi That is just the nicest thing, I cant thank you enough. That was so nice of you to do for us. MTBCoach is just the best!
That was just a wonderful trip, four months later I still think about it all the time, and it always brings a big smile to my face.
That looks like an awsome trip where do I sign up for next year? Great pictures. I dont know how everyone avoided body damage,I could get body damage at Glamis.

RUBITHON
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. Its a great "coffee table book" to help inspire showing off what we did on summer vacation. It was the least I could do.
I felt bad about not getting many pictures of the others in our group. I seemed like I was near you guys and Chris, so pics were easy to capture.
And, I'm very impressed with the book's quality and production of the images. If you ever want more to share, let me know and I can send you the file to get produced via the Apple application or it can be done at Kinko's also...

I'm sure there will be a thread here as well as watch the Ih8mud.com site, under TLCA sanctioned events. Its a trip that should be on everyone's "bucket list", well worth every bit of work, risk and preparation to do this event/trail...

Just to be clear, Sandstorm FJ/Chris lost his left rear corner glass window when a root sprung out unexpectedly and shattered it. And I ended up with a 3' scratch down my right rear and rear door panels. The horrible part is that it happened exiting camp out of Buck Island on morning #3 and not during some daring, rock-crawling maneuver. Just some bushes, and it looks like I dragged hard across a major piece of wood. Just goes to show, concentration is critical on the Rubicon. I just wasn't paying attention.
We got estimates, about damage $1000, but we're not fixing it. I think it looks cool! We've got our "Rubithon: Got Damage" sticker right on it. Truly, a badge of honor.
I still wouldn't change a thing. What a fantastic trip.
