Reiter Pit Trail run with the Toyota Trail Team 7-15-2006 WA. state

This run was was put on by Rob, president of the WA. state chapter of TTORA www.wattora.com

We had folk's from a few forums turn out.
www.wattroa.com
www.yotatech.com
www.fjcruiserforums.com

What a crowd!
I rode up with Will (WillsFJC) on YotaTech.
Will gets the "brass balls" award.
He took his new black & white FJC through some very knarly stuff.
So knarly I tried to talk him out of it.
We went on a few runs, even witnessed the blue trail team rig which was in front of us take damage to the passenger side, as we were right behind them.
Only Rob and the trail team rig took that line, we all took a bypass.

But back to Will...
Him and I followed Rob in his SAS'd Tacoma and Jim in his truck/4Runner conversion, and we were going over logs and boulders.
I swear I did not think the FJ was going to do this stuff.
Will proved to all of us the capability of this new Toyota.

We came upon a line on this trail that had a huge log on it that we might have got hung up on since he has the running boards on still.
Yes, the rbs took damage.
So we went at an angle to the log with A Trak off, and the E locker on.
He gunned it and it swung us around and we were able to get over the log.

Then he switched the A Trak back on again.
The A Trak is the proven winner for when going over rocks and other obstacles.
We also were on this same trail where we had to traverse a stream that is part of the trail.
There was this steep hill laden with boulders and ruts, yet he made it up.
You can see some of the pics of the Tacoma, truck/4Runner hybrid, and Will's FJ coming up the hill.

Overall I was very super impressed with the FJC, and I think everyone else was too.

It was neat meeting Lost Cosmonaut from the FJ Cruisers forum, and seeing a lot of the gang I use to wheel with from YotaTech long ago.

Revtek had a few of their rigs there, and so did ARB.
And of course the Trail Team had 3 of their FJs there.

This was a very huge event, and we had to break up into groups to go out on the trails.

Mad props and kudos to Rob for organizing this and having some trial leaders helping him out by taking a few out at a time.
There were about 3 different routes we went on.
The last one though that I described above was a real pucker factor.
I almost should have brought some Depends for myself.

I will get a webpage made up later with clickable thumbs, but not enough time right now, so here are some resized pictures.
There are many more than will float in from Will, and a woman and her husband in a blue FJ.
I can not remember their screen name, but they are a member of the fjcruiserforums site.

There were a lot of hot Toyotas there today including 4Runners, Tacomas, the FJ Cruisers, and even an older FJ 40.
My camera crapped out on me, the battery needs to be replaced with a new one, or I would have gotten a lot more pictures.

I can not stress enough what a great event this was, and Will surely takes the brass balls award for doing the trail Rob and Jim took.
I think they were very impressed with it too.

Here are the pictures.

Pic 22 makes me wonder - do you guys own body shops? When you basically destroy the side of a new FJ on a trail run, what happens afterward? Do you just say screw it and drive it that way lol. I really want to know. For an average Joe like me, that would have to be $2000+ in body work. Is that the cost for a day's fun + the other expenses.

I know if I went to one of these things I'd be right in there -- just would like to accept in advance that if I play I pay, but .....

Well, that is the Toyota Trail Team rig that I mentioned that I witnessed take damage.
He dropped down into a mud hole with a tree on the right.
The hitch sunk clear down into the mud, then we heard the crunch & scrape as he swung around the tree.

At the end of the FJ Trail Teams tour come this November, more than likely all of the Trail Team rigs will be crushed anyways.

Ouch... that sucks. They ought to raffle them off to CruiserForums/Toyo120/TTora guys.... maybe even Elcova to sway the hummer boys from the darkside.

I would think the Trail Team members should get brand new FJs.
Heck, Toyota can afford it.

Re: Reiter Pit Trail run with the Toyota Trail Team 7-15-2006 WA. state

Yeah it was bad to see that blue one get messed up. We were right behind him.

The run we did with some of the WATTORA guys was fun. Got some nice 2 wheels off the ground air time and did some runs my dad and I were convinced the FJ couldn't do (but it still did).

Did not, however, get a dang watch. Kinda sore about that one. Oh well.

Still had a whole ton of fun. It was great.
