What a great weekend! I want to thank everyone who came out for all the festivities, without you guys it would never be possible. The weather stayed good until late Saturday night and then we had a few off and on showers throughout the night. Huge thanks to Brian, for all his hard work on the grill and the mowers before hand. Thank you to my wife Christie for picking up all our goodies, getting the table all setup for the feast and being a great hostess. Scott thank you for fixing that leaky toilet, you da man and thank you to everyone else who contributed and I apologize for not naming everyone individually.
The day at Wooly's was good, we spent in the neighborhood of seven hours out on the trails split into two groups. Wooly's consists of a lot of mild terrain with REALLY extreme stuff in between. Luckily we had trucks capable of both! Tyree I hope you and your wife will be back out in the woods again sometime soon and sorry you had to bail early. We had a few trucks with some minor dings, but nothing worth really mentioning. Pulled cable several times on different trucks to just help to get them going again. We saw a jeep stuck in the creek bed and a 7k pound winch having problems tugging it out.....so being the group we are, we stopped and hooked up an additional 9.5k winch. Long story short the jeep won the battle and both winches were unable to even budge the vehicle from its resting place. We were forced to leave him to get the park dozer to come and retrieve his rig. I am not sure if they ever got him out or not. Hopefully everyone enjoyed being lost on the trails in my group and will be back again!
We did a little exploring on the property at the farm and found that we have one heck of a rock garden. Larry took his monster TJ and started picking lines that I would have never thought any vehicle could make it through....wow! His jeep is an amazing piece of machinery and has unbelievable flex. Later Clutchee went down to play in the rocks and got pitched to the side and decided it was better to pull cable then wipe out the side of his awesome FJ60. He first tried to winch both front and rear pulling with a snatch block off the tree at the same time, the result was that the front of the rig got pulled more and the rear started digging into the tree even more. We then figured we better go get another rig with a whinch before things got really ugly. Terry came in with his FJ and winch hooked directly to the rear of the 60 and pulled him clear of the tree. Once we got the rig down off the ledge the carb decided it needed to be re-primed. Dwh84 poured a cap full of fuel directly into the carb and the engine started to come to life, but quickly died out again. He then repeated his first step except this time the motor backfired through the carb and started a fire under the hood, with us all scrambling to find something to put the fire out with Dan comes out of no where and briefly sprays the fire extinguisher into the carb to put out the flame. This was a success with a secondary benefit of the motor roaring to life. Who knew a fire extinguisher actually could double as starting fluid?
Hanging out and dinner on Saturday night was awesome and I can't wait to do it all again very soon!
Thanks again for everyone who came out and see you soon!
Let's see some pics I did get really any on my camera.
