Do you run these power lines? I may have to drive to St. Louis next time my customers need me.

NONONO.... the satellite view is very very misleading. if you zoom out a little you will start to see the different elevations/shadows in the landscape.. the trail is very up/down/up/down at 45+ degree angles.
Been looking at the area in google earth and I can see the constante change in elevation. I still think it might make for some good high speed runs deepending on how rough the trail is with rocks and ruts.

I have been running power lines in the east for years - most on ATVs and snowmobiles....They are VERY deceiving. The teams that clear cut the rights of way use awesome machinery that can climb 60 degree grades with ease. Often the trails drop off unclimbable cliffs and ravines. Often you have to make your own switchbacks all over the cleared area and usually it is a job on an ATV -probably impassable in all but the most radical crawlers.
Oh.....It is almost ALWAYS illegal to be on one. I had a buddy take two hours to climb one grade and found a DNR cop waiting at the top to give him a $200 ticket, and having his lunch.

BTW, if you are on one that has high tension lines, take along a flourescent tube....If you hold it up in the air by one end, the EMR (I guess!) will cause the tube to glow...the kids think it is cool!
And here are a couple of really nasty hills: Google Maps
You can see trails cut in off the right of way to access these points....when reading this imagery, the towers are alomost always placed at the highest points....
