This is a great time of year to be in Copper Creek! The leaves are turning bright shades of orange and yellow and the creek may be running. We will be camping in front of the Sibley Mansion in a grove of sycamores, oaks and ash trees. There will be a full moon on the 24th. It will rise at 1715 and the sun will set two minutes later. For those with SLR cameras bring a tripod and remote trigger! You may want to shoot some ghost town/moon shots! The following will give you an idea of what to expect and when.
On November 24th we will leave Circle K and make our way east to the Galiuro Mountains. On the way to copper creek there are Ruins we will visit. Then we will make our way to Copper Creek. We should arrive in Copper Creek around 1600 to setup camp. Dinner will consist of pot roast, potatoes, and beans. There will also be dehydrated food for anyone not wanting pot roast.
For those who rise early on the 25th, (sunrise is 0700) sunrise photographs of Copper Creek will begin your day, and then breakfast. Eggs, sausage, biscuits, coffee and hot chocolate will be available. We will then head north to an old cabin and a broken down adobe structure. There are more ruins further north and if that road is passable we will go there too!
For sanitation, a Pett dry toilet system with privacy tent will be setup in camp. Please send your payment ($40.00 per person) by October 31st to the address below. If you have any questions you can send a PM, or call me.
Sincerely Chuck Davis
