Off roading in So Cal!

Was wondering if anyone out there has a great easy spot to go for a day drive around Los Angeles (north or south of) for 2WD offroading. I truly want to get out and see just how far I can push the 2WD. My lift and tires are screaming for it! Thanks in advance for any offers of ideas.

Just don't try to rock krawl with it and you can go just about anywhere.
Cleghorn rd off of the 15 fwy, Main divide rd off of Ortega hwy. are good places to start. Keep your momentum by keeping wheel spin and even pressure on the gas and don't let up. You will be amazed at where you can go in that "Prerunner"!

My buddy WRIGMAN is correct but everything in the area is closed at the moment due to fire danger.

Re: Off roading in So Cal!

Once things open up in the National Forests around here (rumored to not happen until we get a good rain), you can also consider the Rincon Shortcut. Head up Rt 39 to the OHV play area and check in with the Ranger there to get a permit and the combo to the lock on the gate. The trail head is just up the road a few hundred feet from the OHV area, and runs for 25 or so scenic miles between Rt 39 and Rt 2. It's really just a dirt road, one small water crossing (dry now I'm sure), and a few rutted sections, but you'll be fine with a stock 2wd.

Re: Off roading in So Cal!

Do the "Rincon Shortcut".

It close, and a really nice trail.

Go to the Azusa Canyon (The Mud Hole) ranger station, and tell them you want to go on the Rincon Shortcut.

You fill out a form, and they give you the combination of the gate lock.

The trail is fine for your rig, although it does get a little technical towards the end (it takes several hours).

I really enjoy this "Classic LA Trail".

Do a Goole search for - The Rincon Shortcut

Give me a call, I'll go with you...
