Re: Shoe Creek, Va Near March 1, 2008

Okay everyone, hopefully you might see this, but I got my lift done on Monday and some new shoes...it is totally sweet. I will post pics later, I've been done with the flu for a couple of days. But I'd be up for going again in the next month or so if anyone wants to. Lets see if we can get another trip organized. With the weather getting warmer it might be better for camping, Kev/Neal what do ya say?

I would be very interested in the WW run! My buddy's Range Rover would be another comfortable ride aswell. Could I get a few more details? We are both currently Active duty, Infantrymen out of Arlington area and this seems like a great event to be involved in!

I hope it's ok to copy a post from another site. Good cause. Here is the original thread on another site.

April 12th Wounded Warrior Run at GWNF - Mid Atlantic Toyota Crawlers

OK, it is time for the MATC to put up or shut up. Here is a link to the flyer that was sent out to the Wounded Warriors (it is a large word doc because of the photos). We need at least 20 rigs to participate to keep the cost down and to ensure that none of the wounded warriors will have to ride in a back seat.

Basic Requirements:
Rig in good working condition (leave your POS home)
Cooler with bottled water and soft drinks (leave the alcohol home) to share with a wounded warrior
Trail snacks to share with a wounded warrior
Two chairs (one for yourself and and the other for a wounded warrior)
An estimated contribution of $25 to cover the cost of lunch and dinner (this is for yourself and a guest wounded warrior; PM me if this is a problem)
As you can see from the flyer, the plan is:
Meet at the Shell station on Rt33 where we will gas up and hold a drivers' meeting
Drive up to the top of Flagpole Knob
Have lunch in the meadow at the top (I plan to hit the local Costco and pick up 10 lbs of lunch meat, 5 lbs of sliced cheese, 5 lbs of salads, 6 large bags of chips, bread, condiments, papergoods)
Drive down the back side of Flagpole Knob
Go over to Dictum Ridge where some of the built rigs will put on a hill climbing show
After the climbing demonstration, we head over to Fox's Pizzeria in WVA for a dinner of pizza, wings and softdrinks
When you sign up, please state if you are willing to allow a wounded warrior to drive your rig or will only take a wounded warrior as a passenger. Also, if you plan to allow the wounded warrior to drive, state if you have an auto or M/T. Finally, state if you plan to try to drive up Dictum Rock. It would be nice if we have at least 5 rigs making the attempt. Hopefully, there will be no carnage.

Update: It looks like we may be able to run the Dictum bypass.

List of Attendees:
RedTrooper (M/T) will allow a wounded warrior to drive
KatzTRD (M/T) will allow a ww to drive (Dictum Maybe)
ccannon222 (M/T) will allow a ww to drive (Dictum Maybe)
ccannon222's Dad will take WW passenger if tranny checks out.
larc68 (M/T) will allow a wounded warrior to drive
shortyv6 (M/T) will allow a ww to drive (Dictum)
smcurry83 (M/T) will take a wounded warrior passenger
Brian (M/T) will take a wounded warrior passenger
servicepack will take a wounded warrior passenger
Ted'sUnnamedJeepDriver02 will take a wounded warrior passenger
BlueX will take a wounded warrior passenger
Casey will take a wounded warrior passenger
NETR00T (M/T) will allow a wounded warrior to drive
Gadget will take a wounded warrior passenger
AKODA will take a wounded warrior passenger
Gerger will take a wounded warrior passenger
GlennM86 (A/T) will allow a wounded warrior to drive
vripley (M/T) will allow a wounded warrior to drive
BeaterToyota definite maybe. Maybe showing. Maybe WW passenger.
