Re: AL-GA area Morris Mtn run on Dec 8th

I'd like to try to go on Saturday. Are y'all leaving Sat, or camping Fri night? I'd have to leave on Sat morning as I'm working late Friday night.

After looking at the trail info, I might end up spectating more than anything as I've only upgraded skid plates, everything else is stock...unless there's a lot of bypasses. Anyone going been here before?

Neil.

Manhattan has been several times and says there are bypasses to just about every obstacle.

We're planning on arriving Sat AM & possibly camp Sat nite.

I'm in for Saturday, but will have to come back that night. Are we going to meet somewhere to go out together?

Re: AL-GA area Morris Mtn run on Dec 8th

meet at Morris Mtn 9:30AM.
From Atlanta: Take I-20 west to the stateline. Go 13-14 miles past stateline to the third exit, #199. Take Hwy 9 south. Travel 12.8 miles, turn left on Henry Davis Road to the park entrance.

With weather predicted to be around 70* it should be a great day for wheeling.

I am in for Saturday. This will be the very first trail ride for me and my FJ - and my truck is stock. So veterans please advise me accordingly on how to prepare for this ride, what to bring, etc. Also, if anyone wants to ride with me you are more than welcome - I can use some knowledgable company.

Re: AL-GA area Morris Mtn run on Dec 8th

You are going with a good group. None of them will steer you wrong. Most of the hard stuff also has easier bypasses. Good Bad and Ugly for example.

Have fun.

Re: AL-GA area Morris Mtn run on Dec 8th

fjcruiser08: PM sent.

It's gonna be fun! The weather is going to be awesome this weekend. Dave and I have decided we ARE camping.

In response to your question about all the necessary gear: Dave and I have all of that covered--hi-lift jack, recovery straps, winch, compressor. Just bring your boots, gloves, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you new guys like the offroad stuff, then we can recommend gear that you'll want to get for future rides.

You'll be fine on stock tires for most of the stuff I'm sure. You also have an advantage: Atrac.

Bring FRS radios if you have them! It makes communicating on the trail a lot easier.
