In response to some customers’ requests to take their FJ Cruisers and newer model Tacomas to the next level off-road, All-Pro Off Road is organizing a Hammers Run in Johnson Valley, CA on March 8, 2008. This run will be featured in the June issue of 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine that All-Pro is the honorary editor of.
The owner of All-Pro, Jon Bundrant, pioneered many of the trails in Johnson Valley, the best known of which are The Hammers. The Hammers are infamous for being amongst the most hardcore rock crawling trails in the country, typically traversed by trucks with short wheel-base, solid front axles, and large tires.
All-Pro is aiming to tackle Claw Hammer with a group of 8 to 10 FJ Cruisers and newer model Tacomas, all with independent front suspensions. The fact that this has never been done before doesn’t deter All-Pro. These vehicles will be pushed to their limits.
All-Pro will first hold a seminar to educate the drivers on key aspects of off-roading at The Hammers. Then, with the aid of a handful of highly experienced professional spotters, the group of FJ Cruisers and Tacomas will navigate up Claw Hammer and hopefully reach the end without any major damage or breakage.
Requirements for the run are: 33” tires with front and rear lockers, or 35” tires with a rear locker, a winch, and rock guards. All-Pro will be hand selecting participants to ensure the vehicles and drivers are up to the challenge.
If you are interested in being one of the first to do The Hammers in your FJ Cruiser or 05+ Tacoma and be featured in a magazine, then send us an email with your name, phone#, email address, and vehicle info including modifications and specs (tire size, lockers, transmission, armor, etc.) to info@allprooffroad.com.
There you have it - 10 built Toyota vehicles set to hit territory that has long been considered off limits to IFS rigs, and we will be there to get them through it with pictures (and now Video!) to prove it! We will be getting a webpage up with profiles on the drivers and their vehicles in the next few days along with more details for those who want to be spectators to this milestone event.

Geeeeeeeeee... I wonder if I was to put some 35's on my lifted 2wd if I would make it. I got the locker, sliders, LSD, and Muders.
Unfortunately there is no possible way a 2WD would make this trail unless it is winched the entire way - I have driven this trail previously in my solid axle X-Cab & it was a challenge then. If anyone wants an idea of what this trail is like, Dustpark posted a link to a video from a past Jamboree on another forum, here's a link (30min video clip)
