did you decide to ship the FJC or drive it?
The bid for two rigs is still open, no one has picked it up. If nothing happens by June 2, I'm committing to driving. I've got airline tickets on hold until then, after that, the price is too much. The bid we posted for transport to Reno was $850 and that was thought to be a fair bid. Maybe the price of gas/diesel going up, things changed too much. The guy we are going through said to be patient and it may get picked up last minute but I just can't wait that far into the trip to be making a commitment on airfare.

Odds are we are driving and thats fine with us. In as much as it burns 5 days or so, I have more control over things that way. In any event, I'm coming and plan on having a good time...

Hopefully, I'm in the FJC run. I haven't got my registration back yet. Tony did email me and said it is on the way. I'll just feel better when I actually see it.
I was with Tony today. Saw yours, you are indeed registered for the FJC run.

Tony is working up in Auburn, so he only gets to the Mail on the weekends. So, there can be a 2 week lag between when you mailed it, and when he gets the confirmation back to you.

Thanks. I could always go with Neils' run, but being a Rubicon rookie, I would feel much better going with the other FJCs. My boys and I looking forward to the Rubithion. They are very excited.

According to Tony on IH8MUD the Rubithon 2008 event is now full.

Looking forward to a great trip... now I need to go start packing and prepping the FJC.

A few tips, for those that have never done Rubicon.

Bring more water than you think you will need.
Bring more food than you think you will need.
Bring more clothes than you think you will need.

It's dusty and dirty there. There are lakes along the way, and once you're in the Springs, there is the river. But depending on what happens, you may not have full washing facilities. Baby Wipes are a nice "freshener".

There will be water crossings. Make sure that at least one change of clothing is protected from water.

Make sure that EVERYTHING is strapped down well. Last thing you want is to have something slide forward as you descend a ledge on the slabs. We had one guy in a 40 lose EVERYTHING off his roof rack as he went down the slabs. Everything! It was crazy seeing the "yard sale" he had going on.

Any thoughts on water depth this time of year? Some of the posts on P4x4 have said 2' deep as of last weekend. I'd like to sport my tube doors, but don't want 6" of water in the FJC.

Re: Rubithon 2008 | June 18th-22nd, 2008

Mud lake has been anywhere between 20 and 33". I don't know how the drainage is this year, but other areas have improved. I can't find any reports on that area.

The FJC's floors are washable, right And you have pretty good clearance. There have been years where I have had water above the top of my rim with 36's, which = 28" or so.

When you cross it, you'll want to make a "bow wave", and make sure that no one is in front of you. Maybe 2500 rpm in low

Thanks! I'll keep up with the Rubicon status threads (and the weather) and decide last minute. I can always give Jason a bucket to bail out the water.
