Anyway, back to the Rubicon... I was contemplating that as well but that week end is a potential Friend's of the Rubicon trail work and there will be soooooo many rigs out there for that event making things reaaaaaaal slow to go through...hmmm... I am torn.... still a few month to think about it....

I will leave a strap hanging off my spare tire. When you feel the need, just hook it up to the front of your FJC and I'll drag you through. I saw pictures from last year and there was a VB FJC with 33's and a 3" lift on the run, so I don't think you'll be alone.

Congratulations!

Mark and I got married in Tahoe (May 2000)... I bet it will be gorgeous up there!

Are you going to have the pitties be ring bearers?

I agree. We REALLY want to go this summer, but not on a weekend with a million others. Would we be better off doing it in late May, before the summer crowds hit, or would it still be to snowy?

Re: Rubithon 2008 | June 18th-22nd, 2008

There will likely be snow in May, unless we don't get anymore (or very little) snow between now and then which is unlikely. There is typically a Rubicon Trail usage thread that gets started each year in the Rubicon Trail Section of Pirate4x4. A fair number of people will post there trail usage plans and that might help you find a window where the trail usage will be lighter.

The Rubithon runs start on Wednesday. FOTR work won't impact Rubithon (or vice versa) Everyone in the Springs by Friday PM.

Esty, you won't be alone... I'll be there... one of those week end. I think for me the June date will be the trail word date and some checking around, then I think we should plan a Norcal FJ ride to it afterwards. I agree as far as May being too early, it is high up there in places.

Re: Rubithon 2008 | June 18th-22nd, 2008

Historically, the trail is too wet/too much snow in May. You can go as far as the Bowl, but getting past Walker would be tough. Usually, Rubithon is the first major run of the season. We had to change dates in 04 as there was too much snow late in the season that year. 06 had snow during the run in June.

Father's day is usually a good weekend to plan, as most of the time the snow is cleared enough.
