Hello, I am Robbie. I was on the FJTT for the last two years. I have been lucky to be on the Rubicon the last two years (for the Rubithon event). Ron Q and Brian S (west coast and central team lead drivers) and my self with be leading the FJC run for the Rubithon. We will also have two assistant driver on this run as well. Yes we have some guideline set for us, but we hope to make the best of it. Other groups will be leaving before us,(wed morn) Wagon Run, Rising sun club run and Ross Kuzma's run. We will also have Mudrack's run leaving at 2pm on wed. We will need to pull over to let them pass when they catch up to us(they can be a fast group if they do not brake anything).
In talking about putting this on for the Rubithon, the chose was made to not make it a struggle if you had not been on the Rubicon before. This is a fun Beautiful trail and the other drivers and I want who ever takes the trip to have fun as well. Having more time to relax at certain points will make the trip more enjoyable. If you are relaxed, you are more likely not to hurt or brake you FJC. The min tire size is 33", the FJCTT has not run the trail in stock tires. I really do not know any one besides the prototype that has run it stock(it took a bunch of rock stacking to make it though with no damage to the sheet metal). The Past and current TT trucks sport a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires, and sliders and front bumpers with a winch. They are all(we will have 3 on the trail) will also have full skid plate underneath. This I would think would be a min. that you would want on your truck. Ideally it would be nice to also have a rear bumper. The bumperettes will more then likely not make it though the trail with out coming off at least once. I would reccommend that you remove the mud flaps, these also could get ripped off the truck.
I would hope the TT staff can get every one through the trail with out damage, but more than likely someone could get some damage. We are committed to little to no damage, but do want to make it clear that you could have damage. I will try to watch this thread to answer any questions that come up in the future.
I know we(The TT staff that will be on the trail with you) are looking forward to being on the Rubicon with who ever signs up.
Best regards, Robbie
Thanks for posting Robbie. The truck configuration information that you posted with help folks be better prepared. I personally am looking forward to the run and wish June would hurry up and get here.
Thanks to Robbie X2...I'm trying to plan my trip from NC and have the registration filled out, ready to mail. I'm in the final planning stages for a month long vacation to include Rubithon, a week in Moab before going to FJSummit II then back to NC. Big miles on the FJC but if I can pull all this off, it will be an amazing summer...

I still have a parking spot with your name on it when/if you need it.
I would wonder how one will handle the seat time(for a month), the FJC will do well. Remembering back to the very 1 year, first month of FJCTT. It took a bit to be in a truck for 8-10 hr days for weeks on end. It was a wonderful experence, but still took some time to get use to. Good luck on the trip. If you have specific questions you want to ask, I will be happy to answer. Looking forward to the Con again. June will come faster than you think.

Hi Robbie!
Nice to meet you! Sounds like you've put a lot of thought and work into this trip. I cant tell you how much we're looking forward to it. We've been running for about 5 years, lot's of the Sierra's, Moab and So. Utah, but mostly trails rated 5-6 max, as we are usually alone. We're so excited for this opportunity to try such a fantastic trail with such an experienced team.

Sounds wonderful. I'm not afraid of damage, but not looking for a death march, either.

We're short a few pieces of armor and a bumper, but we'll have that set before the trip. Otherwise good to go!
Look forward to meeting you on the trail. I'll have a cold one with your name on it!
I was reading the Rubithon thread on the TLCA forum, and they said that we're running Wed, Thur, and Fri, and that Saturday was just for games, raffle, and dinner.
Someone also said that by Saturday, many of the camp showers will spring up, and that one could probably bum a shower if needed. Also that there was a Friday ICE run? I'd be interested in this - I've been trying to figure out how to manage my ice supply.
So three days of running, one day to chill, and exit on Sunday. Sounds lovely!
