Fun little trip to Jtree SoCal

Me and a couple friends made a fun little trip to Jtree. I just thought I would share some of the pictures. If anyone is interested I could plan anther trip to the area.

On the way to the camp site Friday afternoon, I got reminded how quick things can turn bad. I made a wrong turn after getting stuck in a valley. I backed down and re-took after I pulled the seat out of my arss. The picture doesn't show the other side where I almost slid off the path and landed on my lid.

This is the only shot I have of the camp site. We tried to camp out of the wind but in the end we lost.

The day started off with a trip to the sand hill. It was a perfect day for charging up and down the hill the wind had left the hill in a very smooth glassy state.
I don't know if this video will work but here is a short video.

I made a couple atempts to get up the front of the hill.

Super charger 33's aired down and the FJ did the rest.

Tankota was in amazement. Really he was just bored.

A couple more times and I was done.

The small group then headed over to a crashed C130, this is located on the edge of the 29plams Marine base.

Yes that is an FJC in there. I would like to think that my new Icon rear links kept my FJ safe durning the crash but due to Icon's lawerys I can't officially state that.

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

The inside use to be in much better shape, but it apears that some kids were bored one night and tried to burn the plane to the ground.

They didn't acheive there apparent goal but they did a good job of ruining it for the rest of us. You use to be able to go up and sit in the piolet seat then climb a later and get on top of the plane and walk around. Now it's just a big burnt spot.

After we were done with the plane we headed to one of the many mines in the copper mesa mountain area. The look out from that mine is pretty cool.

This is for Todd, I'm sure he will find a way to photochop this. Oh and yes saftey was first before any dumb pictures were takan, notice the slide is locked open and the magazine was removed for saftey.

The area is mostly pretty easy terrian a stock FJ could do almost every trail out there. There is one trail that would challenge even the most seasoned drivers. We call it Carnage Asada Canyon. I haven't run it with my FJ yet, I think I will wait till I get my crawler in. I will look for pictures of that to post.

We made anther trip past the sand hill and someone shot this picture which reminds me. This is one of dirtiest off road area's I know of. In this picture there is at least 4 cars and trucks. This place is very remote and un-known to people and the BLM. It's sad that people feel the need to leave so much junk out here and ruin an otherwise really cool place to wheel.

Great shots Jason! When the page first loaded I didn't see any pics so I couldn't make out what you said about the situation. Reloaded and voila! You're so right about a seeming simple mishap can quickly turn into a nasty situation. It doesn't take much at all does it?! I love the pictures. How fast were you going when you hit that hill? You were book'n!

If I had to guess I would say about 30-40? It's just a matter of keeping your momentum going and tires spinning.

I really don't know. I leave it in 4lo and aim for the most compact parts of the sand. The hardest part is towards the top where I have to hit the rocky section to make it up and over. There is a video buried in the post I don't know if you saw it but it shows it a little better.

Nice pics and read. Thanks.

This would make an awesome DO brochure cover.

I'm playing in PC with some of the pictures for just that reason.
