There's really no place close by to go wheelin' unfortuneatly unless you bring an RC buggy.

Re: SoCal Cruisers Brews, grills, grinds and BEACHES

Count me in!

As for wheeling... We could go out Ortega Hwy and run the Main Divide. It's not more than a fire road, but it would give us a chance to get the rigs dirty. MD is roughly 40 to 45 minutes from Doheney, but it will take a couple hours to get back to the campsite once we reach trail's end around the 15 Fwy.

Damn.. Now I'm gonna have to come up with something to top the paella.

If there's anything I can do to help organize, let me know and I'll get on it.

Just bring your cooking skills!

A trail run sounds fun, for sure! Main Divide is where we met for a recovery clinic a few weeks ago.
Ask Skersfan how that went! I wasn't there for the part where he nearly rolled his rig!

Re: SoCal Cruisers Brews, grills, grinds and BEACHES

A couple of tidbits you should be aware of:

Parking Information
Group reservations do not guarantee parking (or entry when park is full). All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parking Fees: $10.00 per vehicle (normal day-use fee)

Areas 1-4 and 7-13 This assumes that there will be less than 100 people (if more we need to look at Areas A or B)[list=1]
  1. The group size requirement is up to 100 people per area.
  2. Each area has 6 picnic tables, 1 large fire ring, and 4 pedestal BBQ's - all on concrete pads.

Non-Refundable Reservation Fees (Per Day):
October 1st to May 31st: $75 per area (Fri.)

Food, Alcohol, and Entertainment Regulations
  • Alcohol may be consumed at sites A and B, and sites 1 through 6 with the completion of the Alcohol Waiver Form.
  • The non-refundable alcohol waiver fees are $100 for sites 1 through 6

I didn't see anything about no RVs, and the campsite map shows RVs in some of the spaces. Not to mention they have an RV dump site.

Re: SoCal Cruisers Brews, grills, grinds and BEACHES

Keep in mind, guys, that we'll be in the group camping area.

My reservations are for there. You're welcome to camp with us but my confirmation specified no RV's.
Here's the wording:

Jan 30 2008 - Dec 31 2050 : TENT CAMPING ONLY! Your campsite will accommodate up to 40 people with 10 vehicles.

I hope no one was planning on going to the 2008 Thrill on the Hill - New Mexico event May 23 – 25.
