DFW/NE Texas run to Barnwell Mountain Rec area THIS weekend

Anybody want to join us for a run to Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area in Gilmer this weekend (11th-13th)?
We will be headed that way Friday around lunch time and return on Sunday around noon.
There are trails rated from mild to wild.
Please post up if you plan on coming any part of the weekend. When you check in at the front desk ask them for a map and directions to the Toyota Trail Riders (TTR) campsite. We will be setup there. If the map has not been updated, it may refer to the campsite as Texas Binders.
If we are on the trails we will probably be on CB channel 4. If you don't have a CB, get one. You miss out on a lot of good info, warnings and chatter. Cell phone coverage is spotty at best, but PM if you want my number.
There are plenty of camping spots at this campsite, however no running water or electricity, but there is a porta potty. Showers at the office.
There is a nice brick BBQ, so bring some charcoal and your favorite grilling item.
Gilmer is dry, so plan ahead if you are wanting to enjoy a ****tail or a few beers at the nightly campfire.
For those that made the first M&G you met Rubicon Chris and his son. He will be there and my two teens boys as well.
Forecast looks like great weather so post up!

Aw, man, wish I could make it!

Unfortunately, I'll be headed in the opposite direction for the weekend (Hill Country).

I'll catch the next weekend outing. Actually, Gilmer is so close we could probably do just an overnighter next time. Anyway, y'all have fun!

Sorry I can't remember exactly how much it is.

Depends on whether you are camping or just going for the day. Also the number of people in your party factors in. They sell memberships that entitle you to discounts on future visits. Check out their website for pricing and contact info for "good/correct" info:

Looks like we have 5 driver's and a handful of sons so far.

Bring what ya want for food, but remember, no running water or electricity. Bring a Coleman stove or use the charcoal BBQ pit.

Here is what we were thinking about as far as food if you want to bring the same thing:
Friday night=grill burgers
Sat morning=breakfast tacos
Sat lunch=quick and easy...sandwiches
Sat night=grill fajitas
Sat late night=your favorite campfire beverage
Sun morning=quick and easy...bagged donuts or danish

ALSO, PLEASE bring some firewood, charcoal, a trashbag, a chair and a roll of toilet paper for the porta potty.

FYI, town is about 20 minutes from the campsite.

I too have never been out there after lots of rain. I am not a fan of mud either. Were going anyways and hope to be there around 4:30 or 5.

Re: DFW/NE Texas run to Barnwell Mountain Rec area THIS weekend

Just talked to BMRA rep and they said park is in good shape considering all the rain. Said it is actually not that muddy and we will not have any probs.
Leaving outta here in about an hour and hope to see a few more join us.
Should arrive around 5pm and will be set up at the TTR campsite (formerly Texas Binders). The office can direct you and you might catch us on CB channel 4.

See ya on the trails!
