Hey guys, I'll be heading to Moab tomorrow morning. I'll be staying the night and then going up to Lehi Utah sometime on Friday. I'll be in my stock FJ and would like to hit at least one trail while I'm there. It'll just be me, my girlfriend and our dog so I don't want anything too difficult. I figured I would get a map and go from there, but since I've never been there, I would like some suggestions.
Was there two weeks ago, at Canyonlands. Lots of trails in the park. I entered from north of Moab through Island in the Sky area of park. Shafer Trail was rated easy, as was Long Canyon.
Posted some pics from my two days there at:
Thanks 6707. That fallen rock is awesome. I almost made one of your pics my new background. But I'll wait to take my own pictures.
I don't mean to sould selfish, but since you're from Albuquerque could you pick up a case of Eddie McStiff's Jalapeno Wheat for me. I will pay before you go. PM me if you think you might be able to help me out.
Try Kane creek or Fins N Things, these are pretty easy. Also there is a 4x4(Jeep rental) repair shop right on the west end of town. They are all nice folks, they also do tours of the trails. I am certain that they could advise of current trail conditions as I have not run these particular ones in 5 years. The trails and their difficulty ratings change often with use or lack of it. Good luck. If you are new to Moab trails, it is some of the best, most scenic wheelin you can do in the USA. Hope this helps, good luck and have fun..
How long are you going to be in the Lehi area? A few of us local FJ owners are doing a day trip up Am. Fork Canyon on Saturday. There should be like 5-6 of us, you should join us, since you'll be right there.

Long Canyon is accessed from the road leading to Dead Horse State Park, and is north of Canyonlands' entrance. I chose the route down the canyon wall, being a noob wheeler myself, rather than climb the trail. Found 4L with my AT invaluable in crawling down the trail in spots where the road was a deep pile of silt-like sandstone.
Do you have the Wells book on Moab trails?: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/096...520749?ie=UTF8
It lists many off-road adventures in the area.
You might have a difficult time finding the Long Canyon trailhead, since there is no signage.
I do not have the book before me now, but say the word and will give you directions from the book later tonight after I get off work.
