I plan to camp too, but would like to know more about the camping situation. Some of you saw my small travel trailer in the Econo Lodge parking lot. Are the roads to the campsite passable while towing my trailer? Where can I stay Friday night? Birdman offered camping at his place but I don't know how close this will be to the gathering Frday evening. I would like to be able to set up in one location and be free to drive my FJ to the meet-n-greet Friday and to the gathering point Saturday AM w/o the hassle of moving my trailer. Would this be possible?
I am still undecided about attending but answers to the above questions could help me decide.
Thanks,
Ace
I think it would be very tough getting your trailer to the point where Matt camps. the roads are very narrow in some places.....
but, matt might know of a better way to get there than I do.

For Friday nite.. lets see.. Birdman lives about 3 miles from me and I live about 11 miles from trail meet spot. KOA camp site 2 miles from trail meet spot and 9 miles from me.
trail to camp on saturday. is narrow on first part. and some mud on second.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways at the last possible moment .... "Old Forester" in one hand, red meat in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming: "WOO HOO!! What a Ride."

There is a KOA close to the trails and can't imagine it to be more than 15 minutes or so from the meet and greet. Probably staying at Birdman's house would be the best option for ya if he offered. Camping on the point is very primitive and I don't think there is a way to safely get you travel trailer out there at all.

Ace, the Coastie has it right. Bird's offer for your trailor is the best bet. Yes, there is a KOA VERY close to the trail head and reasonably close to the Meet & Greet spot, but I have a feeling that you wouldn't like it. It's mainly geared towards those in RVs traveling I-10 and has little to offer, unlike Birdman.
I can say with out a doubt, having seen your trailor, that it WILL NOT make it to the campsite without a chainsaw. Got one? If so, then come join us! The campsite is totally primative, no amenaties whatsoever. Fun!

OK, here's what will work for me if Birdman and all else are OK with this plan. Set up my trailer at Birdman's place and stay there Friday night and I will carry my camping gear and tent camp on the point with the rest of you on Saturday, then return to pick up my trailer at Bird's after everything is over.
I sure hate to leave my trailer with all it's creature comforts behind but I guess I can survive one night of tent camping . But I'd miss even more the chance to sit around a campfire, drink a few beers and BS with the rest of y'all.
Thanks again,
Ace
