camping / wheeling outside of DVNP

I'm headed to do some camping with a group outside of Death Valley NP next month and we are planning to do a couple of day trips into the park. Some of the guys are concerned about leaving tents, stoves, food and water at the camp when we head out. I have never had a problem with ppl messing with our camps in the past but is this safe? Seeking the opinions of the members of the group... thanks for your responses!

Are you camping in Panamint area or on the other side of DV? Never had a problem in Panamint. Not sure about DV or other areas. When are you going?

Going next month and staying south of the park, although Panamint would be nice. One of my buddies is thinkin someone may vandalize the camp but I figure the possibility is remote.

Re: camping / wheeling outside of DVNP

I've been riding my motorcycle down there for the last few years. Always camped at Furnace Creek. Never a problem. The Ranger Station is right there. There is a small campsite just outside of Stove Pipe Wells. The campsite is visible from the road, so if you're concerned about security, I would camp someplace else. I haven't heard of any problems though.

Have fun. Death Valley is a great place.
