I wish, I haven't been down there in like a year and half, two years and its killing me. Where you going to be chilln for the race if you make it?
I don't know men, we never plan for a specific spot, we just ride the course and when we see some spot we like, we settle. but its usually just outside of Ensenada.

But Ive always wanted to go to Erendida
I stayed south of Erendida one year we camped on top of this little hill/bluff right on the water that I believe at one time was used as an army look out or something, had a conc pad in the middle of it. Had a nice sand beach to the north of it that no one was at and to the south was all rocks, cool area to camp.
This is were we camped.
Looking south
This spot was at a alternate line of the course and we didn't get much traffic, so during the race we head north past were the course merged back together and hung out near a baja pits.
I say head down to Erendida its a nice area! The rock whoop section is insane. 3' whoops through 6" river rock. I was draging frame on the top of each whoop as I went through it.

I think you need to do your own research instead of asking a question like this on a FJ forum-unless you believe that we're experts on the current state of Mexico.

I don't know Tony, this is a great way to get others thoughts on it that have personally gone down there. News is often much different and over exaggerated from what the real world is. Yes Mex. has some problems and some bad areas but there is a beautiful country and people if you can just look past what the news people say and get away from the major towns and borders. And we have some people here that do travel there often and can give there personal experience to help people make a better informed decision.

A mans opinion I do take seriously...
But life is an adventure and it must be lived. We can't stay locked up in our safety nets all our life. Also I think there is a difference for those that have been there, it a magical, mysterious place that you can't really show people through words, photo's or video. There's just something about it that calls you to return to her. Its been about 2 years since I was last there and I miss it, the simplicity of life, the freedom, beauty and of course the taco's.

Jaja,, its all about the Tacos
but seriously, i agree 100% with Jeshua, for those of us who are fortunate to visit the Baja, is just something special, and im not only saying that just because of the scenery, but for the culture as well, the honest good people that you meet on you're way down there.
I might not be consider an expert, but i do know that i enjoy my self down there, and my dollar buys 13 pesos that's a whole lot of Tacos and Cerveza
BTW Jeshua, that is a frigging cool spot you got there, hopefully ill be there.

Re: Mexico Travel? yay or nay
I spent 3 months in Baja in 2007 (Jan-Mar) and never felt threatened or really worried even though I camped alone much of the time. I am planning on the same trip in 2010.

My buddies just got back from Baja. They go every year. I've been down several times without any issues. I've also been in mainland Mexico and no problems.
If concerned, go down with a group. When people have problems, they are normally solo, so they make an easy target. Be aware of your surroundings, and don't drink so much that you can't take care of yourself.
I would go into Mexico tomorrow and feel safe.
