Very nice looking. Is that the Expedition One bumper? How do you like it...I've been thinking about getting one after the lift.

I'll be the one in the stock TRD.

I went with the Road Armor with bull bar and the thing is built like a tank! (I think this website had a recent Group Buy and got them at a discount)

Can't wait to see the Road Armor bumper in person. I've only seen the All Pro bumper up close.

I probably won't be starting any major mods until later in the year. So far, I've contained myself to doing small things like buying recovery gear and installing a cb.

Didn't Hungry Valley (or a big portion of it) catch fire a few weeks ago? Are the trails still open for wheeling?

Yes, I think the fire was 2 Sundays ago. I sent an email off to Tom at Badlands Off-Road Adventures Basic 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) Training School and his response is below. Looks like it is still a green light for June 9th.

----------------------
Rick,

The fire burned about 24 acres inside the State Park on the North East side near Interstate 5. As a result Cow Trail is closed. This is a motorcycle only trail. The north half of Pronghorn Trail is closed from Quail Canyon Road to Power line Road and the portion of Power Line road from Cow Trail towards Interstate 5 is closed. The rest of the Park is open. None of the closures will impact us.

Sorry to hear that the fire ate up a portion of the park but I'm glad that everything is moving forward with the class. I'll be looking into this class with anticipation w/in the next month or two.

Stay Safe!

Re: Hungry Valley Basic 4x4 Off Road Class/Clinic

So I did the 1 day class and had a blast! I knew I was going to pick up info here and there, but had no idea that the class would teach me as much as it did. I think I am a common sense type of guy and plus I have an engineering back ground so I am more logical than emotional when it comes to thinking/decision making. I learned way more than I expected! The "do's", the "don'ts" and the most important "whys"! For those of you who are undecided, I say go for it! The first 4 hours are class room with the instructor Tom with his laptop and a wall projector. Tom keeps it fun and light. Tom's just a cool dude and it won't take long for you to feel at home in his class. You take a break about every hour for 5 minutes to stretch your legs. The first 4 hours go by very quickly. Then it's lunch time for an hour (brown bag). After lunch everyones follows each other out to the practice area in a single file convoy. Then the real fun begins! You start off with the small stuff and soon start to see the capability of your rigs. From their it's more trail riding and before the end of the day you will be more confident in your FJ and also yourself. The last hill I did at the end of the day is something I might not have ever done if I never took this class. The part that surprised me the most was the fact that the last hill was so easy to climb in my FJ. My only problem now is I need to find a bigger hill!

I was also able to meet up with 2 other FJ Forum members (Ryan and Bill). Below is a link to some pics from last Saturdays class. Enjoy!
