Exactly my reason, although LEO's are allowed to carry just aboutanywhere, there are some place I don't carry for reasons of appropriateness.
This device, as you can see is bolted through the floor (mine will be bolted and sealed using grade #8 hardware) and would presumably be placed out of direct view. I don't believe any scumbag is going to bring enough tools to an public place and spend the considerable time needed to extract a weapon from a secure steel housing in a somewhat hidden location. They will look for softer targets and targets of opportunity. Just my 2 cents.
Exactly. I guess someone thought I would bolt it to the dash or console.

Take what man makes and use it,
But do not worship it,
For it shall pass.
If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do,
Chapels had been churches, and poor mans cottages, princes’ palaces.
Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.

Not a bad idea. I can't take mine into work so it sits in the car... I'm not afraid the car will be stolen but a busted window and a quick grab of stuff only takes 15 seconds or less. Bye Bye gun and another potential weapon on the street. Another layer won't hurt.
I have never seen one of those in real life, but from the picture it looks like you could easily pry it open with a screwdriver in seconds. I think Tuffy sells a box that is a bit more secure and covers the gun completely; a setup that doesn't scream: "Steal Me!" quite as loud. If you want a gun readily accessable, it would be better to have it on your person (w/a ccw of couse)
"Hold on a minute, Mr. Carjacker ... I need to get my keys out of the ignition to unlock my gun ..."

Not trying to be difficult here, but seriously ... if the gun is in this thing, it's not accessible if you need it.

But I have to agree, if it isnt accessible it isnt any good.

People keep talking about accessibility. I don't think that's even remotely close to a goal of the product, or anyone using the product for that matter. Where in the description on the linked page do you see anything about accessibility?
The Life Jacket™ LJ1 is designed to fit most semi-auto handguns as well as small and medium frame revolvers. Its polycarbonate construction is both lightweight and secure. The heavy-duty locking mechanism, steel-reinforced perimeter and steel double-pin hinge provide you with the affordable peace of mind you've been looking for. IMPORTANT NOTE: The LJ1 has passed the California-Approved "Drop Test".
The Life Jacket™ LJ2 is the absolute best way to secure any handgun, whether a semi-auto or revolver. Constructed of heavyweight steel, you won't find a safer or more durable way to quickly and easily secure a handgun. Designed to hold ALL handguns, it also features a soft, foam-padded interior to protect the firearm from damage. IMPORTANT NOTE: The LJ2 has passed the California-Approved "Drop Test".
Covers the entire action of the handgun
Fits most semi-autos and small to medium frame revolvers
Polycarbonate; able to withstand up to one ton pressure
Double-pin hinges prevent tampering; includes two keys
Black
California-Approved
Further, the question was if you have used the product. If all you're going to do is rail about something the product doesn't offer, why reply?

Sorry, but the thread is entitled "Gun security" and relates to having it in a vehicle. I put the two together and questioned the logic behind this device relating to security in a vehicle, that's all. Sorry it upset you.
This is what I have at home. It bolts to the floor and has a electronic combination that is operated by feel. The door springs open and the gun is there. It takes 3 seconds to open it. The key you see is backup in case the battery dies.
Mine is bolted under the bed. It could be bolted to the FJ floor as well

I had one in my CJ. Had to have something with that soft top. These things are VERY secure:
"Strive for perfection in everything.
Take the best that exists and make it better.
If it doesn't exist, create it.
Accept nothing nearly right or good enough"
I have 2 of the gun vaults as listed by Razor J above, great products, but no location is really good in the FJ for it, I've had to improvise, but it works.
Wesayo, that looks like a great product, perfect for the stop at school or government building when you can't carry. I can think of 5 perfect spots to bolt that baby to right now. I think I'm buying one, nice find!!

Yea man...take it easy, take another drag if it helps.
Your question seems to infer that you want an opinion on this particular product. Seems the general consensus is that there are better options. Maybe we'll save you a couple of bucks even. There. We all friends again?
