Becasue unless the gun is physically attached to you, it is not secure. Wearing a pistol in a concealed holster provides immediate access if that is what you want. Many people who carry guns with them, but not on them, would like the gun to be secured when they are not in the vehicle. This seems like a great device to securely keep a pistol in the vehicle.
This is clearly not designed for immediate access. If you want that, then keep your gun in a holster.

Exactly what I had in mind. I can't carry my weapon into some places I go, and need to secure it in the truck.

Take what man makes and use it,
But do not worship it,
For it shall pass.
If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do,
Chapels had been churches, and poor mans cottages, princes’ palaces.
Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats.

Not trying to be difficult here, but seriously ... if the gun is in this thing, it's not accessible if you need it. Got that. But if you don't want to carry it with you (and I can understand that), why do you think this will keep anyone from taking your weapon? It might keep a kid from accidentally firing it, but anyone who wants to take your weapon will do so -- and just use a knife/hacksaw/bandsaw to free it when he gets home.
Just not sure what the benefit is. Seems like a fancy trigger lock, that's all. It won't "secure" the weapon in your vehicle.
I don't think the holster is meant to protect your firearm from theft. It doesn't say anything about that on the site.

If you have curious children in the rig and want to secure it from them, I think this is a good option.
None of mine are locked and all of them are loaded when in the FJ - but I don't have children to worry about. All of my children have their own firearms (and they're teens and up).

Not to mention, is your car not secure? if your vehicle (locked) is not a secure device than why are we labeling the "life jacket" as one. If someone has already broken into your car by jacking the door or smashing a window, than why would any of think that they wouldnt do the same to the gun lock? Maybe its cuz Im from NH and we ALL carry, and anyone is allowed to without a permit, But I have to agree, if it isnt accessible it isnt any good.

Exactly my reason, although LEO's are allowed to carry just aboutanywhere, there are some place I don't carry for reasons of appropriateness.
This device, as you can see is bolted through the floor (mine will be bolted and sealed using grade #8 hardware) and would presumably be placed out of direct view. I don't believe any scumbag is going to bring enough tools to an public place and spend the considerable time needed to extract a weapon from a secure steel housing in a somewhat hidden location. They will look for softer targets and targets of opportunity. Just my 2 cents.
