Suitable FJ Camper Trailer!

So, I've just discovered that Airstream has a small tow-behind camper called the "Basecamp" , which looks to be the right size for an FJ. It's also available with different axles & wheels for increased clearance. I'm on my way to Windish RV Center in Lakewood, CO (11225 W 6th Ave Denver, CO 80215) to go look at one today.

Check out the HAULTENT. A guy makes them in Nevada and they're about the most rugged off-road tent trailer I've seen. You can haul your toys on the roof of the HAULTENT.

There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unaltered, to find the ways that you have changed.

Re: Suitable FJ Camper Tariler!

I have a Chalet, A Frame. Weighs in at 900 pounds. You can pull them as fast as you want. Sleep 4 (Two adults and 2 children) or so they claim. It is considered a pop up, but has hard walls. No tenting material. You can order them with rubber axles.

Great little trailer, I plan to paint mine to match my FJ for the National. Lift it and use the same wheels. Hopefully it gets done.

I have no idea of what the Air Stream runs, but a new Chalet is around 12,000.00. But good gas milage with for sure.

Re: Suitable FJ Camper Tariler!

My wife and I have a Tab trailer. Our FJ is Titanium and the Tab is all aluminum with bright yellow trim. It's a teardrop style trailer, weighs about 1,500 lbs. dry and sleeps 2 comfortably. We lived in it for 4 months in 2005 while on a huge road trip across the West (towed it with our 2001 Tacoma). Really cool little trailer, gets loads of attention everywhere you go and is quite reasonably priced. T@B: Welcome!

Re: Suitable FJ Camper Tariler!

Well, the Basecamp looks very cool, but the pricing I found on it was......$23,000!

Holy hell that's pricey! I think we will be staying with the Coleman tent for this season.

Re: Suitable FJ Camper Tariler!

nice trailer

"Why do you carry a 45?". The Ranger responded with, "Because they don't make a .46."

Re: Suitable FJ Camper Tariler!

Take a look a these. My parents bought something like this when we were posted to Germany. We used to go campoing around Europe for weeks in this tent trailer. It sleeps 4 VERY comfortably and weighs around 700-1000 lbs!! u can even pull it with any 4 cyl. car. Some models have an added stove and sink. Here's the deal....they don't make these little gems in North America yet...but my brother is trying to get the attention of the RV manufacturers so they can see theres a market for this in Canada and the US. If you have any friends in the business...let them know about these....cause i want one soooooooo bad.
