WTF? Cannot Locate AT Dipstick!!!!

I went bouncing around offroad and my battery clamp broke...my battery slid over and cracked my upper tranny hose right where it connects into the radiator....i lost quite a bit of fluid before i discovered the issue....i cut the hose an inch shorter and reattached it to get home.....it is low on fluid because it's not shifting properly.....here's the problem....i can't locate the tranny dipstick or where to add fluid!!!! I searched thru pages here but only found a discussion that it is a sealed system....is this correct?? then where do i add fluid???

Re: WTF? Cannot Locate AT Dipstick!!!!

Same thing happened to me a couple mounted ago. Had to get a tranny flush. I don't suggest doing it yourself. There is a special procedure for it. If you mess it up you could ruin your transmission. I believe it's added from underneath and pumped in.

Re: WTF? Cannot Locate AT Dipstick!!!!

Recently found out it's the same way on a friend's 4.6L Tundra. It is kind of freaky not being able to check it...

Re: WTF? Cannot Locate AT Dipstick!!!!

Once you pull the FILL plug, you just stick a long clear vinyl tube into it (it will stay in) and run the tube up to the back of the engine, stick a small funnel in the tube and it easy to fill and no spills. Just make sure the tube is away from catalytic convertor.

It has to be the WS (world standard) type fluid. I buy mine from Toyota, but I understand that this type of ATF is also available from Amsoil.

I would. You're going to be down there to pull the FILL plug anyway, you might as well pull the DRAIN plug. When I pulled mine on the original factory fill, I got 3.1 qts out (hot).

Toyota Type WS, Amsoil Type ATL, Redline D6 (last time I checked the D6 didn't mention it was Toyota Type WS replacement, but it used to say that).
