Transmissions / Transfer Cases / Traction AidsThis area is for discussion, questions and problems with the FJ Cruiser's gear train, including topics on A-TRAC, VSC, locking diffs, gear ratios, manual vs. AT, etc.
so whats the difference between a cut and no cut hack??
Just read the instructions in Post #1 on Page 1 of this thread regarding the "no-cut hack" and click on the link to the "cut hack" in Post #157 on Page 16.
The differences are obvious. I think the "cut hack" is simplier and easier, but someone came up w/the "no cut" hack for those people who don't like cutting wires. Both work. Choose the method that suits you best.

In park both the ABS and VSC lights remain on. Out of park they go off. Any ideas?? I used an add a fuse and put it in the lower left 7.5a slot with a 5 a fuse.
Why does turning the add a circuit upside down matter?

I finally did this today. If anyone is having trouble with the second release to get pin 11 out of the harness, I found it's a lot easier to release it from the pin side, not the wire side. Practice with one of the unused releases, then do the real thing. There's a post from WKAYE earlier in the thread with a picture of how you want to attack this- I'll quote it below. Using this method takes only a few minutes.
I used an Add-A-Circuit from Autozone to make the connection to the fuse panel easier. Here's a link to a picture of one: Bussmann ATM Fuse Add-A-Circuit You will need to purchase an ATM fuse and push it into the Add-A-Circuit in the socket furthest from the the FJ fuse panel. It's a tight fit that requires some muscle- do it slowly so you don't snap the fuse. The smallest spare fuse I has was 5, and it seems to work OK. I think the original poster used a 3.
If your ABS, Slip, VSC OFF lights come on at the same time when you start the FJ after this mod (see attached picture), it means pin 11 is not getting power. For Add-A-Circuits, try turning it upside down. I'm attaching a picture where you can see how the orientation of the Add-A-Circuit varies based on what row it's in. My CB is connected to the top one, and the ATRAC+RR is the bottom.
I got it! Turns out that lower left 7.5a was not a good one to tap into. It is labeled STA. I shifted to the gauge 7.5a and the lights go away!

Did the mod this weekend. A few issues:

I don't think this is related but when I started my FJ today I got: Check engine, VSC Trac, VSC Off and Slip lights. Any thoughts?
If you don't need to know "why" you got the check engine light (for some reason, all the other lights come on when that happens too when that happens), just disconnect the positive clamp on your battery, wait 2 minutes and reconnect.
If it's a minor or temporary problem, the check light should go away If not, you've got a "real" problem and need to buy a OBD reader or go to your dealer/shop to find out what the OBD code is to determine the problem.
Good luck!
