Help

Does anyone know what this part is ... and why it is covered in fluid?? Is this a big problem??

Looks like you have a slight transmission or transfer case leak. How many miles are on your FJ? And have you ever flushed the fluids?

Thanks for the insight! The FJ is 2007 and has 200K miles. Have not flushed anything. It doesn't leak so much that it pools on the ground. I'm not constantly running out of oil or anything extreme like that. If I could live with the bit of fluid buildup, I'd just assume skip the expense.

I would say at your mileage, you should do new fluids all the way around. I don't think you necessarily have a leak as much as you just have some fluid seeping which is to be expected with such a high mileage vehicle. I would give your FJ some TLC and get some fresh fluids in there. It'll do wonders to how it drives
