Hi there again
I did the reading again for this subject, from zero ( post number 1 )
and I found out that we came very dam close to solve more than one problem but then we drift away again (I don't know why).

Tried a whole bunch of different things tonight and only came up with one improvement. At the RDL ECU, there is a violet wire with a red stripe. It is the last wire in that row. Just cut that wire and tape up both ends and you can engage the RDL at any speed. Be warned that it may not engage right away. The light may flash for a while until there is some differential action between the axles and the unit can engage. The wire that we cut is a speed control wire and does nothing else (that I'm aware of) LOL
Well, that's me done for awhile, off to Mexico for a week. Sure will miss all of this snow and -30 degree weather.... right!!!

-I think you just solved a big problem for many of us, we can trick the ECU and go over the speed which is limited by the ECU by a click of a switch.
My FJ goes until 180 KM\H now I can cut it and go more...

Finally got the fj back in my shop to try these wiring changes. Things looked promising to start. I connected the white/blue wire to ground and the traction control(squiggley lines) lit up. Connect the grey wire to ground and the VSC OFF light came on. Took truck for a drive with just the traction control disabled and I could spin the wheels and rev the engine (no power cut back) but there was some brake actuator activity. Then the check engine light came on and also the VSC Trac light and the VSC OFF light. Now you can do doughnuts! Tried the rear diff lock and it works too. ATRAC works too but is disabled as soon as the check engine light comes on. Had to disconnect the battery to clear codes and turn off lights.
Next, I tried both wires grounded out at the same time. This produced pretty much the same result. Running it again with only the grey wire grounded (VSC OFF light on only) I could spin the wheels, do doughnuts and there was no power cut back from engine. No check engine light this either but the rear diff lock doesn't work either which sucks.
Going to sleep on it and maybe something will come to mind.

-but !! you cannot run the RPM above 3000 ( if you are using an AT and shift into D.
[ Connect the grey wire to ground and the VSC OFF light came on. ]
-Good but you ended up with ?

-and here is what why we cannot use it. . .

-that is bad

-that is good but do you need to restart the engine to turn it off ?? I think so
[but the rear diff lock doesn't work either which sucks] . . . true
-thank you my friend

Hey, no problem! I started to read the thread you started but was overwhelmed by all the negative vibes, so to speak. I have used my VSC/TRAC cancel switch on several occasions where I knew the truck would get fooled by one tire momentarily slipping, like sand along the edge of the street (from all the snow we have been having--sanded roads). You have to pull out from businesses into 45mph traffic and there isn't usually a big opening so you pretty much have to be aggressive. The TRAC can be very unnerving trying to get into traffic and the FJ just won't go. Good luck with everything.

-True but the bad thing is many people don't understand that it is a must to have a traction off switch and yes it for safety not only fun or off road ( if you say I am wrong then why the Lexus 460L have a traction off switch and the new FJ too I am sure it is not because of FUN factor )

I found the wire gray wire that the 4wd tells the Skid Control ECU to turn off VSC. I also found the white/blue stripe wire that turns off the slip indicator. These are the wires running into the Skid Control ECU. I took a pic of the two wires. Gray = VSC off, white/blue stripe = Slip indicator off. Grounding these wires takes the voltage away and in turn turns off the VSC or Slip indicator.
I also found that the gray wire runs to a connector just behind the glovebox if you would rather work with it inside the cab. The white/blue stripe wire is behind the gauge cluster. I couldn't get to that one.
I tried these and they did in fact work. When I removed the ground the system came back on without restarting the vehicle. I was going to add two switches, one for each wire. They would apply the ground when I turned on the switch.
I decided not to do this because when I turn on my locker from my locker mod, my VSC and my slip indicator turn off. That is what I wanted.
Hope this helps someone in their quest to customize. Do this at your own risk.

- My friend you are too dam close now.

I need to know few things from you:
1- do you need to restart the engine to turn it off?
--No you dont
2- DO you have any lose of power or the transmission start to shift up in low RPM ?
-- .................................................. ......
3- Do you get the trany over heating light? I need to know if it can show that too. ( so we don't have to replace them )
-- .................................................. ......
4- do you get any bugs or problems?
-- .................................................. ......
- Can you add photo for the wires for conformation??

Has anybody tried running loose sand with this mod, and if so, did you notice a substantial improvement? While at TDS last weekend, the FJ struggled to make it up the sand hill behind the main camp - the more gas you gave it the seemingly slower it went. Tacomas can fly past me on sand hills, but the Fj just plain blows in loose sand. I like the idea of this mod if it will help in this situation.
EDIT: Thanks Bugs for the writeup, electrical is not my specialty, and plain english with pictures really helps guys like me.

YES, it helps a million dear friend I challenged a friend my 2008 FJ and his 2009 he turned both traction and VSC and I did not. there is a huge improvement.
