Re: Install of VSC cancel switch

OK

(( Follow the RED circle ))

here are some pictures of what of one of my friends done to his FJ

as you can see from the result (video or picture ). That he can turn the traction and VSC off and ON without restart.

BUT !!

his trany cannot shift above 4th gear when this hack win the trany is on D

and the other thing the one who done this hack he don't want to tel us how he did it ( because ) he is getting money out of this business.

So I want to know another way to do this

and found the best place to hack or play is this place :

another thing I notice in many FJCs around me that this disconnected plug??

I want to know what it for ( I am thinking that it may have somthing to do with our problem here)

SO to make things clear :

1- No restart needed to turn off dash lights
2- traction and VSC off
3- No power cut off or shifting
4- the trany over heat warning light can come ON on the dash

Re: Install of VSC cancel switch

I bookmarked the thread about the one where you don't have to cycle the ignition on my other computer. Can't seem to find it right now.

I already did the original mod and need to redo it. Cycling the ignition sucks.

This always comes back up too... Yes MT6s can benefit from this. I have pictures.

This is that thread

This will only work if you have Toyotas Electric Locking rear diff.

This is how I switched my VSC.
First you need to cut back the electrical tape around the wire harness leading to the CPU

Once you have the protective tape pulled back locate the small blue wire with the yellow stripe and gray cross lines.

Cut this wire and add a long lead to each end. Run these wires through the fire wall with a grommet. Determine were you want your switch and attach the wires to the switch.

I used a cheep generic switch that I bought at an auto store. Do not ground the switch to illuminate the switch light. When I did this the rear locker light was half illuminated.
This switch will turn off the VSC and ABS at the same time ( lights that come on are ABS, VSC off, and Squiggly car). You are able to turn it back on at any time and do not have to cycle the engine.
If you do this mod you are responsible for your own actions. I am posting this only to let people know what I did. I am not responsible for your actions and what you do to your vehicle.

I would like to thank original poster of the pics that I stole to make my post.

Re: Install of VSC cancel switch

Hi,
I have done a no-cut vsv hack by disconnecting the pins of the blue/yellow wire with grey dots, on the plug shown on fj-najb's pics in the foot well. And fixing a switch.
I have a 2008 model and it works like a dream. No issue with gearbox overheat. Did a 3 hour desert drive with the outside temp reading 37 celcius.

Special thanks to all who positively contributed to this thread.
This is the best idea of many vsv hacks due to;
1 on/off on the move. No need to switch the eng off.
2 easy to conceal the wiring incase of any warranty issues.(compared to routing the wiring through the eng bulkhead.)

I used a switch which resembles a blank, so it's pretty unnoticeable.

Thanks again guys. Great thread.
