NO. However, if stopped at a lonnnnng light or at railroad crossings as a train goes by, I will shut the engine off.

Really no reason to, I once did put it into neural on a long light and when the light turned green I stomped on the gas (Oops!) forgot to put back in drive ha ha.

I imagine that the transmission would be more strained shifting into gear constantlyy. Cars are designed to stay in gear even in heavy traffic

that's like saying every time you accelerate and go through the gears its getting damaged... and also are they not designed to shift into neutral? and i think you burn less gas in N vs D? not sure but seems like it would make sense. In the end i really don't think it would make a difference weather you stayed in gear or out..

I used to drive a manual. The best part about driving stick is you don't have to put you foot on the brake ( or at least rarely do) when driving stick. Therefore, I have a natural tendency to put it into nuetral at lights. so yes. I do.

Every time you do accelerate you do put wear on the gears. This is why transmissions break and clutch pads have to be replaced. It's not much wear and tear shifting in and out of neutral but over time it would probably make a difference. Fuel consumption is the same in either D or N but if anything I would imagine it would be better in D since it's a lower rpm
