Rear Seat Speaker Pods

I made myself some rear seat speaker pods, made a few extra sets if anyone is interested, these will fit most, if not all 6.5 inch round speakers. They fit flush in that little cut out in the back seat area. They are made out of OAK, no MDF, Particle board or fiberglass. $50 to your door, includes con US shipping. And i do take Paypal .. These are unpainted, i thought that way you can choose on what you like, the pics show one set painted to give you an idea.

Re: Rear Seat Speaker Pods

I only have 6 pairs of these, i know others have paid much more for pods. If you are thinking of adding rear seat speakers, do not let these get away and don't do it without Pods. Once these are gone you will pay over $100 for a set.

Re: Rear Seat Speaker Pods

be a carpenter that i am i tend to pick up on things and have an eye for details and that sort of thing. i noticed that you said the pods were made out of oak. can you please make the correction and tell everyone that its oak veneered plywood and not solid oak. and for 50 bucks i can purchase a 4x8 sheet of oak plywood. i think you are asking a bit much for the speaker pods. i wouldnt pay more that 20 bucks for these. sorry bud.

Thanks, i guess it is not solid oak, i guess its the veneered oak you are talking about ? I am not a wood expert, and i never stated it was solid oak. The sheet i purchased was $50 and then the time it took to cut and sand everything, and the time it will take to send them via the UPS store for delivery, i would loose money and my efforts for $20 a set. If you can do it shipped for $20 then go for it. I am simply trying to help others out here that want Pods for the rear seat area without spending over $100 a set.

Re: Rear Seat Speaker Pods

Can you explain how to mount them? I am guessing the following:
1. Remove rear panel from FJ
2. Cutout same size hole in FJ plastic panel
3. Mount pod to plastic with machine screws
4. Mount speakers to Pod
5. Reinstall panel

Does this sound correct?

Yep, remove rear panel, cutout hole just for magnet, i don't believe it needs to be the same size unless the basket is hitting the plastic on the rear panel. The pods are 3/4" thick, i have not done mine yet, however others have and write-ups are on this forum, maybe someone that has done this can chime in. Screw from the back side of panel into the pod, mount speaker directly to pod. i would also recommend drilling a pilot hole in the pod before mounting the speaker. Also from all the reading i have done about this, not only is the sound better in pods, it makes clearance issue's a non-issue.

Thanks ..

I actually cut out the holes for the speakers tonight. Is there really anything as fun as cutting into a perfectly good ride? I already have the wicked cas rear pods though, otherwise I'd be buying a set off you.

Yea, nothing like cutting up your new ride, can you post up pics ? and maybe info on the hole size you cut ? how about info on the sound after install.

Thanks ... I am sure others as well as myself will enjoy ..
