A while back I saw some black plastic (ABS?) center caps for sale on some FJ accessory website. I've spent some time looking lately, but haven't been able to find them again - anybody knows who carries these?

Anyone have any experience with Toyo Open Country M/Ts in the kind of harsh climate and sidewall-chewing terrain we have here in Southern Nevada?
Thanks, all.

Here is a long term report on Open Country M/T I wrote up. They took me up to the Arctic Ocean over Haul Road and then up to Inuvik. The trip covered about 2,000 miles of rock and gravel where the rule is bring a spare for your spare... They handled it all.

I have ~ 30,000 miles on a set of these on my FJC. They are the toughest sidewalls I have ever had on any tire. I have never had a flat of any kind on these yet. I have wheeled them in some really sharp rocky terrain that has ripped trail-mate's sidewalls wide open. If a tough tire and a super-tough sidewall is your criteria, then these tires are your baby, but it comes at a price - these tires are "E"-rated, made for much heavier trucks than ours. The sidewalls are so stiff that it is hard to air them down enough to grip, particularly on slickrock. I have had mine down to 11 psi; they will begin to get soft by then but now I am worried about rolling a bead running that low. They also run on the highway a little rougher than AT tires and with a distinct audible whine. But they are sturdy, and they will last a long time. I bet mine have at least 50% tread at 30,000 miles.

Thanks for the great feedback. Since about 95% of what I do is trail-running way out in the back of beyond and I don't really do much crawling, these sound like what I just might need. Kind of pricey, monetarily, but in the long run it's all relative. When I first moved out here from the Midwest way back when I cut the sidewalls of 3 tires on my old 4-Runner way, way out on the Mormon Well Road while only carrying 2 spares, and it cost me $1,300 to get out of where I was ...
"Distinct audible whine" ... 30 years ago I was running a early-'60s FJ40 with a set of Armstrong True-Tracs on it ... now THAT made for a "distinct audible whine!"

yeah I know exactly what you mean. Haven't seen any Armstrong tires for a long long time, but I still have a 40. Oh and BTW, welcome to the forum.

will these rub if you dont have a lift kit on your fj I am just looking to change the stock tires
Depends on what size you get; stock size or a little larger should fit. I'm running them in 285/75/17 but I have chopped body mounts and aftermarket front upper control arms.
