After a year of having just the Bilstein 5100s all the way around, with the stock Dunlap tires on the 17" wheels, I took the plunge the last few weeks and upgraded suspension and tires. Since I already had the Bilsteins, the ToyTec adjustable coil-over kit and rear Super Flex springs were the logical choice for me. Since I live about 15 miles from Man-A-Fre, their Upper Control Arms were also my first choice (that and if they were good enough for Cruzer - the white Casper SAS - they were more than enough for me). The install of the suspension went realtively smoothly. I had already broken down the front-end last year when installing the Bilsteins. Also, having the UCAs off the FJ made the install of the coil-overs that much easier.
After the suspension was done, a week later it was time for tires. After reading about the Nitto Trail Grapplers the last month or so, I decided to go that direction, in 295/70R17. As a long time user of BFG A/T KOs on many different vehicles, the more aggressive tread of the Nitto Trail Grapplers were a real departure for me.
The first few days with the tires took getting used to. They make noise, but that was compared to the stock Dunlaps or the KOs on my other vehicles. After a week, I am used to the noise and really like these tires. The tires handle well on the road, and with the upgraded suspension ride very well. I was able to try them out in some thick, silty and soupy mud the day after having them mounted. I am a competitive target shooter (NRA Highpower - Service Rifle). I had a match last Sunday at the Ojai Valley Gun Club in the Los Padres National Forest. It had rained on and off for several days previous, so things were pretty soupy. These tires were absolutely fantastic. The silty mud up at OVGC sticks to everything, the tires being no exception. The tread filled up quickly, but shed just as fast, with no concerns about traction. I did not get too wild, but was really impressed with what I did drive into, including some thick mud puddles. I am looking forward to tackling some of the local jeep trails in the coming months with this setup.
Overall - I am very happy with the results of these upgrades!! I am getting some minor rub on the body mounts, so it will be off to MAF for a chop - no big deal there.

I have been really interested in this new tire line from Nitto since they introduced them.
I currently run the TG's and they really have been money well spent... Nitto now has released a new size that suits my needs 37 12.50 20 It is rather pricey in this size but to buy new rims 16 or 17"s + the savings on the tire dosen't wash.
I hope you post once in awhile maybe on 10K intervals to let us know how there wearing and if they hold balance and are wearing evenly...
