Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

would 33's fit with a 2" body lift? I think it'd be a tight fit but you never know

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

The article in 4WD Toyota Owner Magazine from the FJ Cruiser test drive through the Rubicon Trail stated that the only modifications they did to that truck was 33 inch BFGoodrich tires and released a bit of air pressure to them.

the factory tires stand about 32" tall, so i seriously doubt there would be need of any kind of lift, at most maybe 1".

What needs to be done to run 285 series tires, will they fit without a lift?It would be easier for warranty reasons if a lift wasn't needed.

The FJ is based on a Land Cruiser Prado which is a GX 470 which is also a 4Runner. I know for a fact you can put 22's on these vehicles and lower them. I think you can do it without a lift kit.

I recheck and its 265/70 R17 = 31.7". It was good news before I mess up!

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

Rubbing and not rubbing will vary according to wheel and tire combination. I would suspect that for the FJ you'll want to lift it anyway because I'm pretty certain it'll rub at full lock or even at full compression. Some food for thought.

Regardless, you'll want to lift it anyway since you'll want that additional clearance.

Good luck

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

I'm hoping to use the 265/75R16 Goodyear MT/R's from my 4Runner on the FJC. Does anyone know if the 6 bolt pattern and the 16" wheel will be compatible with the FJC?

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

Bolt pattern's the same. The 16" TRD rims are an option for the FJ. So, as long as the backspacing & offset's close to stock then you ought to be okay.
