The tires ride great, there is a little slop in the steering wheel but that should be expected when the tires are 25lbs heavier and 1.5 inches wider than stock.

what do you mean when you say that 'there's a little slop in the steering wheel?'

I agree never look back right...Look into the Donahue coil over shocks thay are adjustable up to 3" , I'm a little iffy on the Revtek kit as it is mostly spacers witch will put allot of strain on your system. Check in with one of the Taco or 4 runner forums see what everyone there is running...
Agreed, but that is a lot of money for 1 inch. I am waiting to see what kind of travel the TRD shocks have and if there will be any spring options ... maybe from the tundra.

Sorry... slop is not very discriptive. I mean you can turn the steering wheel back and forth a 3/4 - 1 inch clockwise/counterclockwise and the truck steers straight. The stock tires were a little more responsive.

Also... I may not be used to it, I am coming from a very agile and responsive sports car and may have forgotten what a driving a truck feels like.

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

I just got off the phone w/ Revtek Industries. The 3" kit is the same 06 Tacoma kit right off the shelf. The tires they ran on the black truck did rub a little when they cranked the wheel all the way to the left in reverse only. They are 305x16XR16's. Mickey Thompon BA Radials. They had to trim the body mount bracket and remove the ABS plastic cover on the front left body bracket.

Took apart the fender liner and had a close look at the body mount. There is at least 3.5+ inches that could be trimmed. I will probably angle cut an inch or so and box it. May not need a lift at all ... probably dreaming though.

I certainly hope that the rubbing was primarily caused by the width. Those tires only measure 33.1" OD on a 9" rim. What was the rim size they used?

Re: will 285/70-17 tires fit?

I checked out the plastic shielding that might wind up rubbing on larger tires. I can freaking bend it with my hand under little pressure. This must be an item that can be trimmed!! Possibly, you could use a heatgun to reform the plastic without cutting. I think I might try this if I don't hear anything back from you guys!

The plastic does deform easily... it is the steel frame behind it that won't The body mount support behind the plastic has about 2 inches that can be trimmed if need be... only after a trail test of course
