About to get some of these, but wanted to see if anyone has put the 285's on without a lift and had any rubbing problems...Tried to search it but didnt find an answer...Info appreciated
For what it is worth for you, I just put 285 GY Wrangler Silent Armor on mine and on the road there is no rubbing. There is a testimonial that there is no rubbing at full suspension compression at: http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.p...light=wrangler
Clearance on the front looks very close, so assuming the suspension only moves up and down only it might clear body mounts at the rear of the fender. I hope to find out this weekend. If I have to do a lift it will be challenging to get the truck in my garage, I will have to remove the toyota roof rack.
I almost got the Nittos, had them on my VW Touareg. But never really took the VW to do serious off road since I was always afraid of repair costs for any damage I might do.

Wow those silent armors look really good too, think I might have to throw those into the option basket also...Keep us posted if you end up going out and testing them this weekend.
I went with the Mud Grapplers (love them) but they definitely required lift + body mount trimming. A fantastic look though imo. I have been extemely happy with the Nittos and I use mine for a daily driver (~600miles/week). The Nitto Terra Grapplers get the highest ratings on Consumer Reports so I think you will be happy with their performance. They look good too.
I will keep you posted on what I find off road on the weekend.
Meanwhile, I stopped by a local Toyota 4x4 outfitter to ask about a suspension lift and what to do about a different roof rack. Mainly, if I get a lift I have to do something different about the rack so I can get the FJ in the garage.
The outfitter pointed out as others on the forum have, that a lift kit does not solve a rubbing issue, it just increases the distance the suspension travels before tire rub. Taller suspension stops would have to be installed to prevent rubbing at maximum articulation. They took a quick look at the setup on my rig and thought that I should be okay. They had been surprised at how much room there was with the Wranglers installed.

If you are looking at some of my pics from my posts, I don't have the Wranglers on. I will take some pics this weekend and post them.
