The one thing I have noticed about these is the weight of them. The stock Bridgestones weighed 39 lbs each. These Destination MT's weigh 60lbs each. That is an additional 100 lbs of tire on the truck. It is noticeable when stopping, just like having another human in the car would be noticeable.

I just looked at all kinds of Mud Terrain's on The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels and the Firestone Destination M/T's got the highest Wet traction ranking out of all the m/t's.

Do you think if you got a lift you wouldn't of needed to cut the body mounts?

Curious because I'm thinking of getting these for when I move out to Colorado.

OH yah, those tires look sweet on your baby. I bet she showers with those pumps on

The body mount is even horizontally with the widest part of the tire. With a lift I believe it will raise the mount up higher than the widest part. I will let you know if that is the case. I am holding off on the sawzall for now.

Thanks Dragon, I'd appreciate that.

I have another question for you Dragon. I was reading another thread, when you first asked about the Firestone Dest. M/T's and someone posted that their Destinations were falling apart, the lugs were chipping and breaking off.

I like the looks of the Destination M/T's and the Tirerack rating was good, is that why you finally decided to go with those, despite that one post about the lugs breaking apart?

Yes, all MT's will chunk if they are treated the way they were by that forum member (which is awesome that he has a rep for wheeling that way). Tire dealers say that Destinations are actually better in that regard than other tire companies.

Besides their good rating, they are the sister company of Bridgestone and HQ'd in Japan where our dear old FJ is made. I trust the quality of them more than I would many others.

I hope that helped.

Yeah, thanks your honest opinion. I'm definitely gonna look into these tires in the near future, along with some new, cheap black steelies. I just don't want to have to chop or cut any of the body mount in order to stop rubbing.

Let me know how that goes after you get her lifted. Thanks again for your info, much appreciated

Re: Firestone Destination 285/70/17. No lift. No chop. Yet.

It would seem that my gas mileage, with the Automatic transmission, went from:

Approx. 19 mpg in my daily commute

to

Approx. 16 mpg in my daily commute.

Which is about 57 less miles per tank of gas.

Is it worth it?

HELL YES!
