pathrat; Your not lifted? Looks great, (sorry Dragon, yours looks great too, but I'm partial to VD Blue, lol) just what I am thinking of doing.

Thanks Dragon for the thread and great info.

Let me get this straight,,, I can put the Firestone Destinations MT in the 285/70/17 on the stock 17 inch wheels and the only thing I have to worry about is cutting the Body Mount, Right? And I do wheel pretty hard!

You said in the OP that it was very close to the Control Arms. Did that work out alright without any problems after all?

I don't mind doing the chop but don't really want to lift it yet.

Thanks

The body mount chop will take care of you. There is still plenty of room for it to tuck up under the wheel well.

No problems at all with the control arms.

Hey, sorry it took so long to acknowldege...thanks! Your pictures are uber-COOL! No, not lifted, but I intend to swap out the front coils for just a little more clearance, as soon as I can. Then, I will deal with the body mount issue. The tires did great in Moab this weekend, both on rock and loose dirt and sand. I tried both 30 and 25 PSI, just to see. No problems.

Re: Firestone Destination MT's 285/70/17.

Just an update. While my rig is not really the same as when this thread started, I now have 24,000 miles on these tires; rotating all five every 5,000 miles. There is still a LOT of tread left. I don't see why I can't get at least 40,000 out of these ...shooting for 50,000 but we'll see.

Re: Firestone Destination MT's 285/70/17.

All this talk of the Firestone MT's has brought back fond memories of mine that were on the jeep. I think these tires were my fav. mod. Once I added these awsome tires it seemed to bring the jeep up to where I felt it should have been straight from the factory. after the upgrade I never got stuck again in mud or snow. this is one reason why Tirerack gave these tires such good ratings, in fact, they are number 1 within there category. Are they a bit pricey, sure they are but these tires are truly worth it! If I ever get another set of MT's theres no question what I will get. IMO these are the best until something coes along and dethrones them.

Re: Firestone Destination MT's 285/70/17.

Loved mine until I started ripping the Lugs off, the first time they sold me two new tires for $125.00, the next time I ripped at least one lug off of two tires and as many as three on the other two. No help from them the second time around. So I put on some BFG KM2, took them on the same run where I ruined my Destinations the first time, no problems. Can't really do a total comparison because I havent had these in the mud yet. Again I really liked the tire I just kept having problems with the lugs ripping off. Just a note I was rock crawling both times I had problems, air at 16psi.
