305/70/16 on a 16x8? Some questions!

Hey Guys,

I'm considering putting a 305/70/16 Nitto Terra Grappler on my 16x8 American Racing Teflons (to get a true 33") and I had a few questions for those who have experience or currently have this or similar setup with the 305/70/16 tires.

1. Are you running a lift?
2. If you have an OME lift how does the tire/suspension combo feel when compared to stock?
3. Any rubbing at full lock?
4. How do you like the Nittos (if you have em) in that size on an FJ?
5. Do you have pictures of the tires on your FJ from different angles?

Thanks in advance,
Roman

thanks wakesurfboy....

I read your post earlier (really helpful). I just did a conversion from metric 305/70/16 to standard and it's actually 32.8x12/16.

Still would like to get user feedback and pics.

Re: 305/70/16 on a 16x8? Some questions!

I'm currently running 305/70-16 Goodyear MT/R's on 16x8's with 4.5" of backspacing.

1. Yes, Old Man Emu 886/896 setup
2. Much improved. I do have a winch and bumper in front, and it rides great and wheels even better.
3. No.
4. Goodyear MT/R's for me.
5. Go here for pics.

Re: 305/70/16 on a 16x8? Some questions!

I have 305/70/R16 MTZ's on American Racing Chamber Teflons with a Medium OME lift. I did trim the body mounts, but it was done before the lift and tires came in. So far I love it. Have done some pretty good off roading with no rubbing, the wife would call it "extreme" off roading.

So to answer your questions:
1. Old Man Emu medium front and rear setup
2. The ride is nice, need to ride in a stock one again to remember.
3. None - but I have trimmed body mounts
4. Mickey T MTZ's
5. Pics here - http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...=mickey+teflon

VERY VERY AWESOME! I was concerned about the rid and whether the tires would stick out a lot out the fenders. As far as visual goes your guys' rigs look AWESOME and that is the same look I want for mine. As far as function goes, the family and a bunch of friends are going up to the Rubicon in June for the big TLCA Rubithon event. I'm trying to get my rig ready for serious offroading but at the same time keeping it streetable.

Thanks again!

Rubicon? Nice.

I would work towards as much armor as you can get on it.

I will one day make the trek in the FJ, but she isn't ready yet.

I rented a heep there one summer and had some fun, I found out later that it was pretty much the trail "leading" to the rubicon!
