Question White letter tire mounting poll. White letters in or out?

The only reservation I have about the new BFG tires that I recently ordered is the fact that I couldn't get them without raised white lettering. IMHO, I think white letter tires are a thing of the late 80's and early 90's. Much like white walls were in the 70's. I truly don't know why tire companies still produce these. Afterall, if you want me to carry a rolling billboard then discount your tires a bit. However, I come from a "muscle car" enthusiasm background and not a "wheeler background. So, I thought I'd once again come to my favorite group of peers for tire mounting advice. Which do you prefer, white letters showing or all black meats?

The only benefit I could see to mounting the white letters outward is that they'll match my mini FJ. BTW, pics would be appreciated to help me make up my mind!

In CA here, I see more out than in. Don't know why. If your tire shop put them to the outside and you don't like it, take a sander to them and sand them off. Problem fixed.

IN here as well... Unless a tire company (Mickey Thompson are you listening?) wants me to advertise the tires for free, I'll kindly flip them around and you can send me a refund/discount check.

White only looks good on older trucks and muscle cars. I think the people that go white out on the new fj's is to go with the whole retro look of the truck.

Re: White letter tire mounting poll. White letters in or out?

I have my BFG A/Ts mounted with the white letters out. Mainly a retro thing. Once I get a set of aftermarket rims and mud terrains, I will mount the mud tires with the white letters hidden.

Re: White letter tire mounting poll. White letters in or out?

The BFG's are one of the few tires that look good with the whites out. Most others look better black out.

Re: White letter tire mounting poll. White letters in or out?

white out looks cool, but if you do any wheeling, they will be scratched/rubbed-off to heck in no time, which might look kind of cool too.(i got BFGs)
