Question Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Fitment Question

I'm trying to put together a wheel and tire package consisting of the Mickey Thompson Classic Locks and some 33's. I've spoken to both Rough Country and Desert Rat and both say that the 17x9's won't fit clear the front calipers on the FJ.

I know a few people on this board are running the Classic Locks. To those folks, did you have a problem? Anyone else have information on this subject?

Thanks.

Re: Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Fitment Question

The wheel fitment guide on Mickeythompsons site seems to indicate that they think it will fit with the FJ cruiser. May want to call them, to see how they back up their claims, etc.

Vegas thanks for clearing up the wheel fitment question. Did you have to grind the caliper or use a spacer? What brand and size tire do you have? Lift?

VegasFJ,

Awesome ride, those are the tires I want to run ... did you have any clearance issues (other than I imagine you had to clearance the body mounts) ?

thanx

Re: Mickey Thompson Classic Lock Fitment Question

SHP, I don't know where you are at are if you would be interested in them but there is a gentleman from Utah that had 5 wheels with tires that were brand new for sale in the for sale section. I think they were 285x17 BFG Mud terrains mounted on the MT classic locks and he was asking $1950 if I remember right. He bought them for his FJ but sold it before mounting them. It's on the 2nd or 3rd page of the for sale ads and is titled with the 5 BFG and MT wheels. I thought I'd mention this as it's a pretty good deal.

Thanks for the heads-up! I actually think I'm going to go with the Axis Regulator 16 x 9's instead of the Classic Locks. Very similar stying but he Axis is a 16, has better matching center cap and (most importantly) no apparent issue regarding fitment. As far as tires, I trying to decide between MTZ's, Cooper STT's and Geolander MT+'s. I've gotten some great quotes for packages on each of these.
