Thumbs up Bfg 255/75r17

I just got my new FJ Cruiser and I want to change the tires for a BFG 255/75R17 MT. those tires are just half an inch bigger.

After the down payment I can’t get my FJ lift. Did someone have problems with those tires without lift?

Thanks in advance
Fernando

Re: Bfg 255/75r17

There are people on here running 275/70-17's without any problems. This tire is slightly taller than the ones that you want. Hope this helps.

If you found BFG 275/70R17 MT tires let me know because I went to BFG website and I didn't see that size of tire.

Re: Bfg 255/75r17

I do believe that BFG makes that size just not in the M/T or the A/T that we would want. The only M/T that I know of in this size is the Goodyear MTR. Hope this clears things up.

It is right; the only brand that has 275/70R17 is Goodyear: Wrangler AT/S ($184.00) and Wrangler MT/R ($218.00).

Yesterday I went to 4 Wheel Parts (Houston) and the guy recommended me the BFG 255/75R17. What do you think about those tires?

I replaced the OEM 265/75R17 with BFG TA/KO's of the same size with no problems. They work great. I have stock suspension.

There is another thread where a forum member says he's running BFG's that are 285/75R 17 with no rubs or lift kit.

Re: Bfg 255/75r17

BFG does make two different 285/70-16's. One is 32.8 x 11.5 and the other is 32.7 x 11. Of course both are on 8.5 rims. The latter 'should' fit on the FJ without any problems since our rims are 7.5's. I have no experience with this. It is just my guess. The 32.7 is listed as a BSW just so you know the difference. As for the 255/75-17's I would take them. It is a BFG and an M/T. Ever so slightly taller than the stockers and you won't have any rubbing issues. I say go for it. Again, I hope this helps.

Re: Bfg 255/75r17

Please let me know if the BFG 255/75R17 M/T fit perfect on the 17" stoke rims and with no rub with the body mount. Thanks

Re: Bfg 255/75r17

There shouldn't be any problems mounting that tire on the stock 17's. Also, I would seriously doubt that there would be any rubbing on the body mount. This tire, the 255/75R17, is slightly taller, maybe 3 tenths of an inch, and narrower, reportedly at just over 10 inches, than the stock 265/70R17. We are talking about a 32x10 versus a 31.7x10.6. The narrower the tire the less likely that it rubs the mount. Someone on here is running BFG's 255/85R16 without any problems. That is a true 33 inch tall tire. The width is the same as the the stock 265's. So, I hope this helps you out.
